If you have never been to Duluth before, like us, we highly recommend that you stay here to get the historic feel and best location to Lake Superior and downtown. They are also dog friendly, as long as you don’t leave your dog in your room while you are out. They recommended a good dog daycare and boarding place that we put our pup in, during the day- Canal Bark Boarding. That worked out well, but it’s important that you have a car to take them and pick up.
The hotel has an old world feel to it with high ceilings, lovely woodwork, bell service, etc.
Our room was a corner suite with 16’ ceilings and multi-leveled. Base price: $288 M-Th, $306 F-SUN; a fair price considering all the perks of location, room amenities, linens, maid service, stores, 4 restaurants. Note: the complimentary continental breakfast was subpar. Fitgers needs to ramp up the food choices, drinks and service on that. After one morning trying that, we went elsewhere or went to their full breakfast at their Boathouse restaurant.

Thank you for staying with us here at Fitger's Inn,

Our pet friendly attitude is very well received and is growing in requests.
The mall common areas are pet friendly along with our lobby and hallways.

We hate to lose ground on satisfaction ratings when it comes to our continental. Long ago we decided to offer a "start to the day" and wanted to offer something more than coffee. Our objective is not to offer a meal or a breakfast but the terminology is Continental Breakfast. A full hot breakfast is much more common in a two star facility with no restaurant, no room service, no lounge than it is common in a four star. We do offer the opportunity for room service or dine in hot breakfast but also like to offer something more than coffee. We may discontinue continental if it does not lean guests towards the positive.

We hope to see you again here at Fitger's Inn.
Best wishes,

Really very ok. Staff were all very nice, and helpful. Facilities were not really special, somewhat dated, though it seems based on marketing that they would be very special. Paid fairly high rate for what we thought was so-so.

Hello from Fitger's Inn!

Thank you for staying with us.

We appreciate you taking the time to review on Trip Advisor.
Truth is "nice enough" and "so-so" are not what we are aiming for here at Fitger's.
We strive to not only offer a unique accommodation but also impress our guests with a high level of service which hopefully has them leave the property with a high level of satisfaction.

The complex itself made up of retail space, three restaurants and a 62 room hotel is a housed in a renovated building from the 1880's. The transformation from abandoned brewery to current day complex involved joining (11) separate building. So it is easy to say that our facility which is listed on the national register of historic places are dated in deed.

Our rooms have recently been updated and are holding their appeal based on most feedback. I do realize that no matter what the features, benefits and service are at a particular property, a guest may not feel like the rate matched the experience. Feel free to contact us and be more specific especially if you think we misrepresented any portion of our product or services.

Sincerely,

This is a great place if you like something with a historic charm. The rooms are nice, but the building and its location are great. It can be tough to get into sometime, because its popular. I would say it rates prey good on the romantic scale. The location on the water is wonderful. Their is a Mexican restaurant in the mall attached to the hotel which I always enjoy.

We had a suite, which of course cost more $$$$$$ but, for a couple of nights it was so worth it . We had the suite to the left of this picture, so our view was a little nicer. It had a jetted tub that I could actually float in...ha ha ha ha It was old fashioned and we actually had a key to open our door, which I found fun, I actually miss hotel keys. It has complimentary parking and the bellhops were super friendly. This is a remodeled factory so it has lots of charm. The interior is simply Beautiful!! Sitting on the balcony was relaxing after a busy day, it was fun to watch the activity on the lake and down below where kids were playing games and adults were conversing around the fire ring. The shops within the building were fun to look through, and to purchase some unique gifts. Would I go again? In a heartbeat!!!

JoAnn16-
Hello from Fitger's Inn.

Thank you for reviewing your stay here at Fitger's Inn on Tripadvisor.
Our balcony rooms are popular but having the spectacular lakeside courtyard just steps away from all the rooms may be our biggest benefit in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Most people forget that our courtyard is perched some 50 feet above Lake Superior on a shelf. The elevated view offers great perspective of the West end of the lake and of course the pier and aerial lift bridge.

Our metal slage keys get most guests attention along with our delivery of ice to each guests room upon request. No noisy ice machines will ever bother a guest at Fitger's Inn. We apologize if a few waves are heard from time to time. (ha)

Please say "Hello" next time your here at Fitger's.
Best,

I stayed at Fitger's while traveling for work, on a tip from a friend who's familiar with the Inn. The common spaces are quite charming - old-world charm, including lots of wrought iron features (like vault doors, safes, etc), as well as some pretty kitschy old school hotel uniforms.

On arrival, one of the staff were quick to help me load my belongings onto a luggage cart, and take my car for the complimentary valet. That's a sweet service - the entrance to the hotel is up a few stairs and it would have been a bummer to get up them alone. The garage is a bit of a hike, so the parking service is helpful!

Several food options on site, none of which I checked out - they seemed high price and run-of-the-mill. There's a gym in the basement next to the Boat Club, which hosts the continental breakfast - which honestly was pretty lame. When I arrived at 7:45, it was well picked over.

The service is great here - the shuttle is awesome and the driver's are friendly!

Ed M-
Hello from Fitger's Inn.

Thank you for staying with us at Fitger's Inn.

Great to receive a review from a corporate traveler as we try our best to connect with first time midweek guests.
As popular as our 62 room Inn is during the weekends, our Sunday - Thursday nights ideally still need to be filled.
The combination of our location, service and wide offering of food & beverage on property make Fitger's Inn a perfect fit for business travelers. Not only do we offer (3) restaurants inside the Fitger's complex but we also have additional F&B venues within walking distance to connect with clients for dinner.

I was surprised to see your title as "slightly outdated".
All 62 rooms were recently updated with all new carpet, wallpaper, paint, softgoods and hardgoods.
That pretty much means everything except the retiling of the bathrooms however we did replace all the vanities with quartz tops.
Our most recent renovation strived to create a feeling from early brewery days of the late 1880's. Maybe you felt like you were in the 1880's and we accomplished our goal...with color TV and Wi-Fi that is. (Ha!)

Our "start to the day" which we call continental breakfast should be under a constant state of "refresh". Hopefully a staff member was close to accommodate a refresh of anything you were interested in. Having a full service restaurant and room service available may become a benefit during your next stay.

We hope you decide to make us your Duluth corporate hotel for regular visits.
Regards from Fitger's Inn,
