“Excellent Duluth Hotel”
Reviewed 21 October 2011

Stayed 2 nights for business. Always a great place to stay in Duluth. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Kitchen is great for cooking if so desired. Morning hot breakfast is more than adequate. Evening light meals are equally good. All included in price. Easy access to downtown Duluth.

we stayed here over the Columbus day weekend. We have stayed here before, and enjoyed it. this time we took a one bedroom suite with fireplace mostly in order to have an oven. What a disappointment. the oven would not heat up, the stove top is the slowest and coldest I've ever used. Otherwise our stay was great, but I would not recommend this if you need to cook for yourself.

Hello elsier33,

Thank you for your recent review of the Residence Inn by Marriott-Duluth. So sorry to hear about your oven! We have THE best, hands down, maintenance manager here at the hotel and I know he would not be happy to hear that something wasn't working to its max efficiency. We will look into it.

We hope we will be seeing you again in the future. With my strong confidence in our hotel staff and amenities I can assure you that if you choose to stay in a one bedroom suite with a fireplace during your next visit, you will have a pot of boiling water in no time.

We appreciate you,

I travel to Duluth once a month on business. This property is head and shoulders above every other property I've stayed at, including The Suites, Comfort Suites, The Inn, The Kitchigami Club (where I'm a member), Beacon Pointe, Fitzgers and several highly rated B&B's (to be avoided). I stayed in a one bedroom w/ fireplace, as well as walked through a studio unit. Great floor plans and super basic amenities (TV, bedding, kitchen, bath, etc.). Breakfast was excellent, including eggs, hash browns, fruit, sweets and good coffee. The location is convenient, though I regret it's nowhere near the lake. Alas, no place by the lake I've tried is any good! This residence Inn is nevertheless excellent. Not cheap, however.

Room Tip: The corner room we stayed in was great, though a bit of walk from the lobby/ dining room.

We came to Duluth to see the sights and the north shore. When we chose this hotel, we did not realize how far away it was from downtown or Hwy 61. The hotel would be great for a business traveler who was working in that area of Duluth but given its cost and location, it was not the best choice for a tourist. In addition, the hotel boasts that it is dog friendly but does not disclose until check in that it costs $89 for the dog per night.

Room Tip: If you are traveling for fun, consider staying in canal park or along Hwy 61

Hello cutetraveler,

Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us at the Residence Inn by Marriott-Duluth. Because we are such a new hotel, all of the guest feedback we receive will only help us to improve for future guests.

Duluth is a very interesting city in the fact that there are such distinct areas of interest. There is the main attraction of Lake Superior which we are about 10 minutes away from and also the Miller Hill Mall area which is where we are in the heart of. We have found since opening that people do have their preferences on where to stay when visiting our beautiful city of Duluth. Thank you for your recent business and although we weren't in the perfect location for you to enjoy the North Shore, we truly hope you enjoyed your stay with us and that our friendly staff and inviting hotel made your trip up the hill worthwhile.

Marriott.com has provided us a wonderful template to list out all of the information about our hotel on the fact sheet portion of our webpage. There you will find so much information on hotel location, amenities, area attractions and additional fees. This is a very useful tool especially if you plan to use Marriott hotels for your future leisure travels.

Thank you again and we appreciate you,

My wife and I stayed at 3 hotels this trip to Duluth, and this was by far head and shoulders above all the rest. Clean, friendly, helpful, convenient and and for what you get, it's priced right. This will be where we stay from now on on all our trips to Duluth. The only problem I have is that we didn't spend our whole trip here. We wanted to stay down in Canal Park on the water to enjoy that area but that was a mistake, we paid way more and was not worth the old stinky hotels that we were in down there.

No long review necessary when it was so enjoyable.

I stay at this hotel at least twice a month and I have just one word...great! The rooms are comfortable, clean and have a nice modern setting. The staff is always very welcoming and helpful. They have even started to remember my name when I walk through the front door!

The lobby and breakfast area has to be my favorite place to relax. I am staying here again this weekend and look forward to seeing my friendly "Residence Inn" staff in Duluth!
