We stay here 4-6 times a year and it makes for a very relaxing weekend get-away. The rooms are not huge, but laid out well. The bed and bedding is really comfortable. Spend the extra money to get a lake-view room and request the 5th or 6th floor. You will get a great view of the Duluth harbor and the bridge that goes up and down for the big ships that come through. If you get lake-view on the 2nd or 3rd floor you'll get a view of the buildings across the street. Parking is free in the adjacent ramp connected by an indoor skyway. This hotel is on the north end of downtown rather than the more busy, touristy Canal Park area. The shuttle will take you there if you don't want to drive. It's only two blocks from the Fon-Duluth casino which is a funky casino. It's also a only a few blocks to walk north to restaurants like Fitgers and The Pickwick Inn. The downtown area has some interesting characters, but is pretty safe. I wish they could keep a steady staff here as it seems like there are always new people every time we come. Some are very accommodating while others are not so much. The lobby area is nice and the club room is nice. They have improved their evening reception and the breakfast. You will have to pay extra for this-just like anywhere else.
