Embudu Village is a lovely little island (you can walk around it in about 15 minutes)! It doesn't have the luxurious resort feeling, which is good: it is just perfect that way. It is not pretentious, but family like, while enjoying all you can want.
Staff are all super friendly and helpful. Remember to bring enough money to tip (Dollars best) as there is no ATM. Rooms are clean and are cleaned twice a day. They have both aircon and ventilator, so you can choose which to use. Beds are quite firm, maybe a bit too firm. Tea and coffee making facility and fridge available in the room. For people who worry about spiders: nothing in the rooms, just seen one outside. There are mosquitos though, so be prepared. The little shop sells stuff for it, as well as sunscreen and after sun lotion.
From the room (15) it was 35 steps to the sea and there were never more than 7 people there at the same time, it felt immensely private.
You can hear the sea in the room! Each room has a little basin to wash the sand of your feet and a washing line and towel rack on the little terrace.
The excursions the hotel offers were good. I did the dolphin spotting at sunset and the submarine. Both were perfectly lovely. I especially recommend the spa: treat yourself to a lovely massage, just before you fly back: your muscles will thank you. The food was good, varied and plenty. I had full board, as I hardly drink alchohol, it is much cheaper that way.
All in all: beautiful small island, friendly staff and atmosphere and perfect place to reload energy!

The choice of food is great! Try the local breakfast with tuna - fantastic. Service is professional as well. Very good diving at the house reef and professional dive center. Staff is very friendly - easy transfer by boat from Male airport.

Our fourth visit to Embudu, and we have enjoyed all of them. The resort offers excellent value, and is a really friendly, relaxed place. Besides not having to worry about food and normal day-to-day things, we choose Embudu because of its reef; we are keen snorkelers, and photographed all sorts of fish, turtles and invertebrates. Compared with our last visit, there were more baby sharks. However, the coral is clearly suffering from bleaching at the moment - especially staghorn and table corals in some areas around the island. We took a trip to the Northern edge of South Male atoll, and were surprised to see that new islands are being created there. Our room was comfortable - some noise from the next room sometimes, and the bed was a bit hard, but it was cleaned and serviced well twice each day. It took several seconds to get from our room into the water and look at the reef. We liked the chickens, who've appeared since our last visit - and there are still lots of lizards. The restaurant has lots of good food, and we especially liked the curries. The cooks are friendly, and eager to pass on some of their recipes. It's not hard to relax on Embudu.

We booked three nights in the Maldives before heading over to Sri Lanka for 10 days. The Embudu was booked being a budget resort and being less pricey than some of the other islands. On leaving Male airport we enjoyed a short speedboat journey to Embudu where we were greeted with refreshing cocktails. We had upgraded to a water Bungalow and even though these were amazing from what we saw the other rooms looked decent too. The Water bungalow as mentioned above was amazing-clean, spacious with a modern bathroom which included a whirlpool bath. There was no water in the rooms but this was easily available from the restaurant. The outside had a large spacious sofa plus two chairs to relax in. The only downside was that there was no direct access into the sea from the deck. Overall though the water bungalows were well worth the money and definitely worth the upgrade. The staff at the hotel are friendly and make you very welcome. What was a nice touch was a decorated table in the restaurant on our last night. The island is small but beautiful and the reef is amazing. We loved seeing the different fish, sharks and octopus and even the lizards and crabs became our friends! Overall it is a fabulous little island and if this is a budget resort we can't even begin to imagine what a luxury resort would be like! It is a shame that there isn't access to a pool but this is something you would know when you booked anyway. To be honest the lagoon is good enough! We would love to return to the Maldives in the near future but even though Embudu was first class luxury we would choose another island purely to see more of the Maldives.

Room Tip: Water bungalows are definately worth upgrading to!

Our first time in Maldives, hopefully not the last. Everyone was so friendly from arriving at airport, speedboat transfer, rep waiting to greet us as we arrived at Embudu, reception staff, bar staff, dining room staff. Beach bungalows rooms were bigger than i thought, spotless, nice big shower, air con was so needed as it was really hot, we were lucky as never had any rain. We upgraded to all inclusive which was worth it. Embudu is small but beautiful. Plenty choice of food in dining room but no ice cream. Seen loads fish in clear blue waters. Everyone must go to Maldives at least once.

It has been one of the best trip. Specially the staff, very good, nice people. A specially mention to our waiter Thasleem and the manager Rasheed always ready to help us in everything we need.
The reef is awesome, all the island surrounded by coral gardens and tons of fishes, sharks rays etc. The food was great, typically maldivian food very good cooked.
Totally recommended 100. We come back!!
