On a cold winter's night, having arbitrarily picked several Nordeast restaurants that were jammed with people waiting for tables, and a din that made it difficult to even ask how long the wait would be, we walked over to Gardens of Salonica.

And we were glad we did.

This charming storefront restaurant was busy, but it was also warm, friendly, and quiet. One could actually talk in an "inside" voice to tablemates and the waitstaff. A small, but welcome gift.

That said, the food was delicious. We weren't hungry for dinner, so we tried the soups, salads and gyros. The egg drop soup contained lots of egg and lentils, along with bits of meat. Wonderful. The gyros was flavorful, and the tzatziki tangy. All reasonably priced.

This homey respite from the cold, noisy world is well worth a visit.

The restaurant was not full on Saturday evening. The food was authentic Greek comfort food. The dishes looked very attractive and tasted great. We liked the service. The only negative things was temperature control in a room. We visited in January. It was cold and not comfortable. I finally got my warm coat on; and I dined in a coat.

We had a nice experience eating at this restaurant. Food was delicious. It's a small room and it was quite busy and noisey the night we were there. Our server was a bit overwhelmed but did a good job.

Food was very good. Lamb was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Pita was soft and just plain delicious. Services was good- seemed like a family run business. We were there with a party of 10 and we were a bit snug but not uncomfortable. My only complaint was how cold it was. Just when you think it couldn't get colder- the bathroom is freezing! This would be a great place to eat in warmer months.

We are always treated to wonderful food that has an authentic feel. Last night we felt like coming for a visit to Anna's home. Each of us shared the combination appetizer plate to start the meal. Delicious. The wine flight gave us a taste of three Greek wines. My squash soup was the best ever.
