Table of four, all of us requiring super mild food, the waiter made sure we didn't order a dish that couldn't be made at less than medium spice. Best garlic naan we've found: hot from the tandoor, flaky and soft at the same time, the garlic is sweet from the high temp cooking. Samosas, black lentil pancakes and vegetarian momos (dumplings) are sturdy appetizers, great for cold weather. It's too bad my husband and I almost always get his saag paneer and my saag chicken as so many of the other dishes are equally yummy, but we usually remember to go to Himalayan when we NEED their saag! The owner is always out in the dining room making sure everything is perfect, and we're tickled that he recognizes us when we only get to his restaurant about 3 times a year----but we've been customers for more than 10 years and we frequently bring friends who haven't been there before---that way we get more dishes to sample. The menu notes which items are or can be vegetarian or gluten free---we've never had a special request that they couldn't handle. We've also been with friends who like their curries super hot, and they were very pleased with the authenticity of the options to add spice. It's not fancy, but I'd probably go weekly if I went to the gym enough to handle all the cream and ghee in the saag! YUM!

I only went at noon when they have a buffet. The food was authentic to what I had in Nepal. The buffet was affordable with a good selection of dishes. I was intrigued enough to want to go back to order from the menu in the evening.

This was my first time trying Indian/Napalesian food. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I only rated this 4 stars because I felt the buffet was a little small. The food however was FANTASTIC. The starters we ordered were amazing. We ordered one of everything on the starters menu. The buffet was really affordable. It offered a nice variety but I wish there were more entrees offered. Both entrees on the buffet were chicken dishes. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect for our group of 9 friends. We will be back.

My wife and I found this restaurant back in 2003 in their hole in the wall location. Lots of character but some folks would not have eaten in the place. Now they are right on Lake Street and easy to find. Plenty of parking and the same great food. You can also vary the spiciness of the food. I like mine spicy and my wife prefers mild. Have never been disappointed. We like the chicken curry but this time I have the Chicken Saag but substituted shrimp for the chicken. Simply asked if it could be done and it was. No questions asked. Have never had a bad experience.

We went to Himalayan restaurant twice past weekend. We live close by, but I had never been to it. I had read some reviews on TripAdvisor and we were going to a party nearby so off we went!

The restaurant is casual, pretty big and the service was great. They serve wine and beer and had quite few choices and also some local craft beers.

The food was delicious, we had momos, the lentil pancakes and mostly vegetarian main dishes, not because we are vegetarian, but they all sounded so good. Some of our favorites were the Aaloo-tama soup, the Palak paneer and the Bhanta Aaloo. The naan is delicious as well!

We loved it so much that we went back two days later, so happy to have found a great neighborhood place to eat, we will be back (a lot).
