Description: The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 20th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites. The new, elevated menu will bring back supper club favorites, like the relish tray, chicken pot pie, and popovers along with some new interpretations of classic dishes like the pot roast. The cocktail menu is no different; offering a new riff on classic cocktails like an old fashioned, a brandy slush and an ever-changing social hour punch of the day. Now, more than 80 years later, we invite you to be part of the legacy - whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning to reminisce about the past. We invite you make new memories or revive old traditions as the familiar landmark welcomes you back. Welcome to The Lexington!

Visited the patio at The Lexington recently. PArking was good that evening, website has lots of information. Service quick, pleasant and knowledgable. Made suggestions. the appetizers were full of flavor and plentiful. Would go back and not share...jk. It was lovely to be sitting outside and enjoying the remainder of the day. The patio was a nice spot. Would return.

Our first visit to the re-opened Lexington was costly and disappointingly nothing like the Lex used to be. The prices on the dining room menu are very expensive for the amount and quality of the food presented. For old times sake, I ordered the chicken pot pie from the bar menu, after being assured that it was the same as old times. Honestly, it was inedible. I brought most of it home and gave it to our dog. We thought maybe the bad experience was just bad luck, so we returned for a second visit. We ordered from the bar menu and were not disappointed with the food, but the prices were high for what was served. One person ordered a salmon-topped salad and that also was good, but expensive for what was on the plate. Our conclusion is that the prices are very high for the quality of food served. Too bad. The Lex used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Everything is al la carte, so that brought the prices up. Two out of four orders were not tasty at all. The other two were just OK. One was a steak, and how hard is it to cook a steak?

Hi Terry, Thank you for the feedback. The Lexington has evolved in the sense that we have taken some of the best parts of the Old Lexington and woven them into what we are today. I apologize that you were given misinformation about the pot pie. It is a customer favorite, we make them fresh daily, but the recipe has been updated from its previous form. Our prices are competitive, we take pride in using fresh, quality ingredients that are prepared by our talented culinary team. We hope you will visit us again despite your previous experience. Feel free to contact us directly with any additional feedback at info@thelexmn.com.

Kind Regards,
The Lexington

Great service, great space, great food. I had the NY STRIP, my granddaughter had the DUCK & FOIE MEATBALLS IN STROGANOFF.

We love The Lexington for special occasion celebrations. They just never disappoint. When we weren't happy with our original table, they moved us right away. Our server Owen was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and he acknowledged our anniversary several times. The food was delicious as always and we are never sorry to visit this Saint Paul classic for celebratory occasions. We will be back.

Notified in advance it was our anniversary. Seated near the reception/front door, so not off to a good start. Service was excellent. Smoked Lakefish app was great, and my wife’s tenderloin was cooked to perfection. My (very expensive) ribeye was medium instead of medium rare. I wouldn’t order again. A good place that could be great. We won’t hurry back.
