I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. It is the most beautiful restaurant in the Twin Cities. Decor in this historic building is art deco, wonderfully done. Elegant but not pretentious. Prices are fair for a snazzy place like this. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff (bartender even patiently answered our questions about the history of the place). Be sure to check out all the photos on the walls -- tastefully done, lots of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald (Scott lived in the attached apartments). The decor really captures the period without being silly or fake-y. Oh, yeah, the food and drink -- loved the special Fitzgerald cocktail -- just the right combo of sweet and tart and gin. Best fries in the state!! Raves from our group about the Grain entree and the fish entree and a cauliflower side. The pickled plate app was just right. Person who had the tartare said it was OK but not great. Fried risotto balls were a tad bland, but nicely fried and not greasy, sweetened a little with the squash sauce. (Actually tasted better the next day as leftovers. I'd suggest they make this with some other sauce/dipping sauce to add a little life to it.) Wonderful olive bread for the table. Huge raves from our group for the lobster deviled eggs app. Brown butter bread was fine, but hard for me to go ga-ga over it only because I'm a choco-holic. Everything, every item on the menu, is presented like a photo-worthy vision from a dream! I can't wait to try this place again -- great location just for a drink, too. Romantic but not over-the-top for other get-togethers. So glad to see this place open again. A really special place. P.S. Exceptionally comfortable chairs in the dining room -- too many restaurants ignore this item! This makes for a place you'll love sitting around in, enjoying great conversation with good food and an extensive drink menu.
