Took the morning boat out to West Ship Island and had a great time on the beach. They have decent restrooms and the prices for food is reasonable. Most people don't stay the whole day and return on the 2:30 PM boat back to the mainland. Dion't forget to set enough time to visit Ft. Massachusetts. Unfortunately I didn't and missed the fort. There's always next time though.

Wish we could have stayed longer. The beach was awesome and so was the shelling. Since you take a boat out and back island was not over crowded. However, trying to take a shower before leaving was a mess.

Head over to left side of the beach for more privacy and a pretty view. The sell fairly good food with some healthier options. Watch out for the aggressive seagulls, though! Take the tour of the fort, it's worth it to hear the history and it's cool inside. We got bad sunburns on the way back from riding on the top level of the boat - be sure to use sunscreen in warm weather.

After hurricane Nate visited us on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, damage to the Gulf port office and the Ship Island piers, tours are not offered for the remainder of the tourist season. Please call the office for further information. Please do visit other attractions along the gulf coast.
