Description: When Tony Pietoso opened the original Cafe Napoli in the '80s, it quickly became a success. So Successful, in fact, that it moved to a bigger location at 7754 Forsyth Blvd. The restaurant continued to flourish with its generous portions of regional Italian specialties. Cafe Napoli has recently undergone a facelift and has added Bar Napoli next door. The swank cocktail lounge has soft lighting and a separate wine room that can accommodate 30 diners. The kitchen is headed by chef Jeff Davis, who has been with the restaurant for several years. Fortunato Pietoso, Tony's brother, has also returned to the kitchen. Tony makes rounds chatting with customers, many of whom appear to be on a first-name basis with him. The sons Ande and Kye split their time between the Bar and Cafe, as they are being groomed to take over the family business. Cafe Napoli is a must visit when in the St. Louis area. Some guests include Tony Bennett, Gloria Estefen, Joe Torre and Arnold Palmer to name a few.

We went to Cafe Napoli to celebrate a birthday with family and friends. We had a very nice table for eight. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and relaxed. The food is excellent, but be prepared to spend some cash. All our entries were very good and well worth the price.... except for the dozen of oysters that my husband and I shared. Although they were very good, they were not worth the $50 price tag. We have had oysters that were just as good if not better without the hefty price. Moving on the Veal chop was excellent as was the sea bass. The other favorite if the night was the scallop special. Dessert was also very good, our favorite being the flourless chocolate cake and the bread pudding. So, if you are looking for an excellent restaurant to celebrate a special occasion give Cafe Napoli a try.... you won't be disappointed.

On a business trip, have to stay in the hotel over the week-end. Due to an art fair in town all restaurants full with families. As 'single', extremely difficult to get a seat...The guys in Cafe Napoli understood that i had no chance and spontaneously let me in, freeing up a table, whereas the ladies at entrance asked me to just wait. Absolutely adorable! And each had a nice word to me. Food is excellent by the way and at reasonnable price.

We walked in on a weekday night because it looked pretty, and they were able to quickly accommodate us on the terrace. Was really lovely w/ the flowers and fairy lights. The food was very, very good and generous portions. We couldn't eat it all, and couldn't take it w/us bec. we were traveling. My only nit w/ the food is that the shrimp on the seafood pasta I had were so large, they were actually tough. Otherwise, all was great, and the pasta was perfectly prepared.

The service was simply outstanding. Our sever was charming, as was everyone we encountered, from the host and hostesses to the water boy. Even what appeared to be the owner came out and greeted every table.

Two things caught our attention. First, this place is described as a fine dining restaurant, meaning expensive. We found it very reasonable for a large city restaurant. Second, those Clayton(ers) can party! There were several happy groups on a Monday night, and people were still coming in to be seated when we left at 9:40 p.m.

We had a lovely summer night under the stars.

Enjoyed going here as a large group. We were well served and the food was great. Only concern was that so many dishes were made with wine, and when I asked for one to be made without wine, I was told no.
