Incredible in every way!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 21, 2023
Incredible Experience. At first I was unsure I could be without wifi and in constant contact with work and kids. How could I sleep without a fan?! But I was so grateful electricity and cell service was limited. I could slow down and connect with my husband. Talk, laugh, hike around, and just chill by the pool with a book. The grounds are amazing, the cabin casitas are so beautiful in a natural and understated way. The best of summer camp vibes. The yoga clases were held in a stunning shala. The food and drinks so healthy, fresh and delicious and the staff all so nice! I love haramara!

Room Tip: If you absolutely can’t sleep without a fan (like me) bring a little rechargeable one with you....

Months in advance, we organized a yoga retreat, and they changed the “agreement” many times. Once we were already trapped in their agreement, they changed it advantageously, altering fees, demanding tips (which is illegal and probably because they don’t compensate their workers well), and transportation as they pleased. None of this was in the contract.
In the end, we wanted to have a dialogue to reach an agreement, letting them know that their attitude was exploitative. However, they didn’t care, and each time it was more money, disregarding what was in the contract we signed while they didn’t. And, of course, they demanded cash… if everything already felt dirty, this confirmed it.
The place was empty, and their arguments were so they could have spaces available.
As soon as you arrive, they ask you to leave your bank details (with the security code) to charge you for everything not included, and worse, they keep your information.
If you ordered something to drink, you hadn’t finished ordering when they already asked you to sign to charge you.
I have never been in a place so urgently focused on charging, as if you were about to leave without paying.
It was an extraordinarily unpleasant experience, and after leaving, they continued to harass us for more money.
The only positive thing I can say is that the food is very good, and the staff was very friendly (which is not their fault).
We offered a retreat of peace and sensitivity to trauma, and this was definitely a traumatic experience.
I suggest that anyone looking for a space to host a retreat should look for a kinder and more honest place.

Room tip: Cualquier persona que esté buscando un espacio para dar un retiro busque otro lugar. I look for another space for retreats.

Very loud party music on most nights until 1-2 am coming from the town below. The pool area was loud in the day-time. Our transportation ( arranged by Haramara) back to PVR Airport was dangerous. Not what I had expected from a retreat.
Food was excellent as well as service at the resort. Clean and well-kept grounds. Nice yoga shalas. I enjoyed the salt water infinity pool and watching whales from the property.

Room tip: Go if you like loud music at night and noise around the pool in the daytime. It might be safer to pay more for a taxi on departure day.

Haramara is a special gem. I attended a week long yoga retreat in Feb 2023 and had an astonishing experience. The ability to fully unplug while staying in exquisite accommodations is a rarity. Food, staff, locations, body work and rooms -all stellar.

I have been to Harmara 3 times now -- there's just nothing like it. The property is beautifully, lovingly maintained. The is a large open air dining room looking over the jungle and out to the ocean, infinity pool and luxe lounge area perfect for beating the midday heat, and a path right down to the ocean, where you can lounge on the sane or on beachfront lounge chairs. At lower tides you can go on long walks along the beautiful stretch of beach, and the water here is clean - not like the Sayulita beach. That said, it can get really rough -- there can be a seriously powerful rip tide and some very aggressive waves. It seems to vary a lot day to day.

The rooms are open air, don't have electric lighting (kerosene lamps are provided for night time), and the beds have mosquito nets, which would make you think this is a cheaper establishment -- but that's just not the case. Everything is natural, yes, AND incredibly luxurious -- the beds and linens are so comfortable, great water pressure in the showers, fresh floral arrangements in the room every day, the rooms are cleaned and polished thoroughly each day -- everything is just beautiful. I feel like royalty staying here, so much effort is put in to making this a beautiful stay.

And if you practice yoga, the shalas (practice spaces) are just beautiful. One open on all sides with a sunrise view over the jungle, the other with a bit more protected, but view out to the ocean. Plenty of props in both to support your practice.

And then the food -- you will be so well fed here. The staff are great, attentive and looking to welcome everyone and make it a great stay.

I am so grateful that this place exists. I hope you give it a try!

I took my teenage daughter on a personal retreat at Haramara. We slept to the sound of pounding surf in our gorgeous cabana Obsidian in the jungle complete with hammock and outdoor shower. We woke to a fabulous breakfast, followed by yoga with beautiful views and massages at the tranquil spa. We spent time at the wild and beautiful beach sitting under the shaded awnings. It was a bit rough to swim but you could go around the corner to the next beach which was calmer. My daughter also went on a group hike and rode a horse through sayulita and galloped along the beach. The Infinity pool was a stunning place to hang out and chat with other guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. After 4 fabulous nights we felt relaxed and refreshed. There was as much or as little to do as you liked. It was challenging going up and down the steep hill but you were rewarded for you effort. I hope to return again soon.

Room tip: The massages are very popular so sign up as soon as you arrive before they are full. Make sure to bring cash to tip the spa staff.
