My wife and I stayed here at the tail end of an adventure packed month in Colombia looking for some downtime - and a spot to reread One Hundred Years of Solitude whose fictional city of Macondo bears many similarities to Mompos. The owner is a sweet a hostess as one could hope for. She all but held our hands to bring us to the daily Magdalena River Tour (recommended) and secure our bus tickets to Cartagena upon departure. That early morning bus ride was made easier with a lunch which she packed for us. The riverfront location is perfect, although there is no way to enjoy it in the rooms or common area (except for this welcome custom: dragging a chair outside as the sun goes down as many locals do). Our room was more than adequate and the breakfast was very good. Mompos is a worthwhile trek for those with time and Ana Lorenza's will enhance the experience.

The place is quaint and nice looking, the staff very friendly although they would prefer you pay cash...the location is nice right on the water which was beautiful in the morning and the breakfast was ok. The owner is very friendly and they try and accommodate. If you have a car you will have to park on a side street and bring your bags from their. The room was passable...bed hard as a rock but, sufficed...personally better to save your money and stay here though over the more expensive supposedly better option in town.
