This is a beautiful piece of 1800's building. It was originally a hotel and is still registered as a hotel. We had the rose room with its canopy bed and lovely little en suite. Whilst there is no TV in the lounge room in which to share with the other guests. The cricket was on so I was lucky that the other guys were happy to watch an Australian Victory.
The personally cooked breakfast by the hosts was delightful with preserved fruits, cereals and of course a cooked eggs and bacon main.
Richmond is beautify and this little BnB adds to the delightful trip.

We had the pleasure of staying at Mrs Curries house on the 15th and 16th February 2012 and had a fantastic time. Patrick was very helpful and gave us the history of the house and the breakfasts were very good and really set you up for the day. There is also a downstairs kitchen with a guests fridge and extensive supply of tea's. In the lounge there is Port and Sherry for guests use. It is only a short walk about three min to the local pup which serves excellent pub grub. We would definatley stay there again when we return to Tasmania, this was a great start to our holidays, thank you Patrick.

Having stayed at this B&B a long time ago I was pleased that it had changed so little,
the welcome was warm and the service impeccable.
The gardens are beautiful and it is a joy to be able to walk into the fabulous atmosphere of Richmond .
My only comments would be that the bathroom was a bit cramped and I really hated finding long hairs in the shower and that generally the bedroom could have done with a lick of paint

We stayed here just before Christmas and is was a great place to stay. Centrally located and nice, clean and cosy. We stayed in he room the couple complained about and had a great sleep in separate beds too! We ate at the pub and they had eftpos issues bu it all sorted itself out... Nice port and sherry in the parlor and a good chat. Breakfast was enourmous with perfectly cooked eggs and bacon, I didn't have room for the fruit and cereal but my wife did. A good nights sleep and a magic brekkie, not asking for more are we?

This was a real find and easily our favourite place so far.

We had 2 rooms downstairs in the oldest part of the house. Both rooms oozed character and were furnished beautifully andwere also incredibly comfortable. I wish we'd had more than 1 night here!

We were invited to make ourselves home in the kitchen opposite where the breakfasts were prepared. There was a fridge at our disposal as well as tea and coffee making facilities. We wanted ice for some drinks, and although there wasn't any in the fridge, it was immediately provided. We had our pre dinner drinks in the rose arbour outside which was delightful.

The guest lounge was lovely too with a decanter of sherry and port provided for the guests. We all congregated in there later and polished off the port - it was a great way to mix with other travellers and swap stories and pick up tips.

The breakfast was FANTASTIC - easily the best I've had so far. Somewhere else boasts the best brekkie in Tasmania, but they've got it wrong. This place should have that accolade.

There were several dinner choices nearby. We opted for the Aussie pub experience and loved it.

There was no internet access here, but when you're in an old house like this, who would want it? You're there to soak up and enjoy the ambience and forget the worries of the real world for a short while!

Stayed here 1 night.... but would like to have stayed more! Spent 10 days touring around Tasmania staying at most places for 1 night and this was definately the best place that we stayed. We were given a brief history of the house when we checked in and then we were personally shown to our room. Beautiful room, tastefully old world decorated and clean. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet (no TV). Wonderful breakfast in the morning with perfectly cooked eggs. Lovely garden and different areas to sit outside. Position in the town is perfect for walking to shops/attractions. Perfect place to stay in a perfect little town. Richmond was the highlight of our trip to Tasmania.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable one night stay in Richmond at Mrs Currie's House - a very historic house with a nicely appointed room (the Iris Room). Marilyn and Patrick are lovely hosts and Marilyn told us that the back section of the house is the oldest continuously-occupied rammed earth house in Australia. The gardens are beautifully manicured and a great place to sit and have wine and cheese after a day of history in Richmond. Breakfast in the morning is tasty and filling and there is a great variety of teas to choose from. The only drawback was the noise from the shower in the bathroom of the room across the hall being used late at night, but being an old house, this is understanderable. Certainly worth the stay.
