Have to reserve tour not a good thing. A person cannot just spontaneously show up.

An imposing, 1800s building that has a superb location overlooking the Missouri River and the State Capitol. Extensive and well maintained grounds--including the Carnahan Garden--with lovely old trees and handsome shrubs. Carolyn Bond began a restoration fund for the mansion, and it shows in the superb character and taste of each room. The ground floor is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to noon and 1:00-3:00 (also Wednesdays, same times, when the legislature is in session in late spring). The docents are extremely knowledgeable and charmingly dressed in period costumes. Not to be missed.
