Our ‘family reunion’ of three brothers and wives recently dined at Bentley’s in Lake of the Ozarks based on reviews and menu. Must have been an off night. First, the BIL ordered a dry manhattan . . What was delivered was not so . . When gently discussed with waiter he said what we really wanted was a perfect Manhattan. BIL said no, this is fine. About 5 minutes later the waiter returned and without asking, poured sweet vermouth and a cherry and said here, this is a perfect manhattan. We were aghast .. never expecting the waiter to take it upon himself to pour something into the drink without agreement. Next: house dressing has anchovies blended in the dressing. It is delicious. My BIL asked for a few anchovy filets to add to his salad. The waiter said, “No, the won’t open up the anchovy tin until they need to make more dressing.” We were really surprised. In most fine dining restaurants, the customer would have been accommodated. While the food was good, it wasn’t great and the actions of the server somewhat less than pleasant. We would go back to Jeffrey’s instead.
