We came this area to do some geocaching, stayed for breakfast and lunch. We had a nice breakfast here at the Bile Stop while we watched the world, or at least a small part of it, go by. All manner of people and animals passed through. No one down here seems to be in a hurry. Even on a day that would be close to a hundred degrees, sitting in the shade of the trees nearby was cooling and refreshing.

The Bike Stop Cafe has an awesome vibe, good food and drink but the service leaves something to be desired. I don’t expect food to be rushed out in a “fast food” style but sometimes service is way too slow when taking into consideration the number of patrons.

Our two favorites on the menu were the vegan strawberry poppyseed muffins and our granddaughters waffles served with fresh strawberries and blueberries. My husband really like his turkey and cheese grilled sandwhich. Our grandson and I weren’t overly crazy about our wraps... but I think it’s more us than the food, because we went outside our box to try something new. Everything in this cafe is freshly and lovingly prepared! Bicyclists are going in and out and the cafe is right on the Katy trail... which is wonderful! They have a little patio where you can sit outside, or you can sit inside and watch all the cyclists coming in and out and enjoy the atmosphere of a fun place. Tony, who runs the bicycle rental/repair/accessory part of the cafe is a super person, and it shows that he wants you to be able to have a bike to ride. He personally makes sure the bike seat is to your liking, helmets are complimentary and you really couldn’t do any better! If you are walking around historic St. Charles and want to see the beauty of the river... go rent a bike! You will see more. The Bike Stop Cafe is just across the street from the trail and right where the statues of Lewis and Clark are placed. It is worth the ride!! Let me say it again.... It is worth the ride!!! The atmosphere, the people, everything at the Bike Stop Cafe is completely worth the visit. Wear comfy clothes and closed toe shoes... have breakfast or lunch and then hop on a bike! You will feel so good! You can call ahead and reserve a bike. Tony will set you up, and the girls in the kitchen will happily feed you before or after!

I had a great experience with this bike outfitter. For a full KATY trail trip for an out of towner, they provided the bike, saddle bags, helmet, lock, and bag of repair gear like tubes and multipurpose tool, for a very reasonable fee. It was pretty much concierge service as everything was ready and mounted before I arrived, just had to make a quick call ahead to reserve. They provided shuttle service to the kirkwood Amtrak station, a launching point to train out to Sedalia. They are super easy to work with and rent quality gear. The cafe and patio are also perfect for pre and post ride food and drinks, like a cold beer after a long hot ride. Absolutely no complaints here, highly recommended!
