Description: A blend of traditional and innovation awaits you at Mirch Masala Indian Restaurant. Freshness is the key for Mirch Masala which continues to set it apart from other Indian dining options in the area. Mirch Masala serves Northern Indian cuisine, consists mainly of dishes and vegetables slowly cooked in either tomato, onion, ground nut based or vegetable cased sauces, which are expertly seasoned according to the type of dish. Yogurt and cream is also used for marinades and sauces. The restaurant also serves some South Indian variety

The last couple of times I was in Bozeman, I tried to eat at Mirch Masala but missed due to not being available on their open days or once when the family who owns the restaurant was in India for a wedding. So, I finally had a chance to try it!

This is a small, clean, quaint restaurant. The buffet has several options and items which are not usually seen on a buffet (or even in a restaurant). The buffet is also closer to a true Indian buffet with the platter and bowls that will remind one of thali. It is vegetarian but not all vegan (as one reviewer said). The dishes were fresh, well spiced, and supremely satisfying to one in the mood for Indian flavors. The masala is also well flavored-no watered down spices- like in some places.

It is amazing that Bozeman has two very deserving subcontinent restaurants: Mirch Masala and Saffron. Saffron is definitely a high end priced, more trendy place where I'm not sure an Indian Mom/Grandma is in the kitchen. The food is good and I do recommend Saffron. But if you want a more authentic Indian experience, complete with Zee TV, and an on-the premises Indian Mom/Grandma cooking in the kitchen-then Mirch Masala is your place.

If I lived in Bozeman, I would be frequenting this place. Also, I made a reservation (as recommended on their website) but there were several open tables so I would try stopping in (without a reservation) if you are in Bozeman. Well worth getting off Main Street for!

It's unusual to stumble on a veggie restaurant just around the corner from where you are staying in the wild west, so I had to try it, especially as I love Indian food. The decor was homey, and the waiter was kind and helpful. The evening fare was a buffet, with extras to be ordered if required. I opted for one of these, a samosa which, was delicious, and came with a lovely mint and coriander chutney. The buffet items were decidedly less exciting though. The salad was plain, and came without any kind of dressing, whilst the carrot 'chutney', though nicely spiced, was also way too salty, and the pieces of raw carrot were far too chunky to qualify as a chutney. The raita was full of sweet fruits, mostly banana: fine for a dessert, but not suitable for the main course. The yellow daal was simple but wholesome, but the mixed bean 'daal' was watery, with whole beans, and the mixed vegetable curry was mainly potato. The corn and mushroom curry was similarly 95% corn: delicately spiced and not unpleasant, but I felt already to have OD'd on carbohydrates without even touching the rice and paratha. So, whilst I would like to give them marks for effort, they really need to make a bit more of it, especially in the protein department. Mirchi Masala simply needs just a bit more imagination.

Mirch Masala is a wonderful little place with nice people serving delicious food. We are not vegetarians but we enjoy the food and never leave hungry. It's buffet every day, and something different every day. I get the feeling every time I go there that whatever Grandma is making that day is what we are all eating. It feels like "down home" there, right down to the very nice people.

I really love the variety of spice level and the clear information about food allergy components on each buffet item. There were so many wonderful flavors to try for a very reasonable price! Service was excellent.
