I stayed here over the 4th of July holiday for four nights. Along with Al’s Westward Ho, located just outside the National Park entrance, the One Horse Motel is one of the few affordable places to stay in massively overpriced West Yellowstone.
It’s an older property with about 20 rooms. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of free street parking just outside along Dunraven.
The rooms are small but very clean and the queen size bed was comfortable. There was a writing desk and chair and a small refrigerator. There was no true closet to speak of, just a metal clothes rack with a handful of hangers. Bathroom was of adequate size and the shower tub combo had decent water pressure.
One thing you should know is that the rooms have no phones and no hair dryer, though there was a small flat-screen TV to watch. You can borrow a hair dryer from the front desk, but I would recommend bringing a portable one of your own.
Based on the overall quantity and quality of amenities, this property would merit three and a half stars if TripAdvisor allowed for such a rating. However, since I have to choose between either three or four stars, I decided to be generous and opt for the latter because this place does offer pretty good value for the area, as long as you keep your expectations reasonable.More
