This is one of the cleanest motel rooms I have had. The room had a good sized mini-fridge, lots of channels on the tv, and the employees were very friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable for a place like West Yellowstone. One thing to keep in mind is the rooms have ceiling fans, not AC. While the area is not usually hot, it could get toasty on warm July/August days.

We did not plan to stay at the Lazy G Motel in West Yellowstone, it just happened. And boy are we glad! After five years of visiting Yellowstone, one small motel in particular had become our go-to choice. But this year, due to our relatively early arrival (early May) it was still closed for the season. So while still on the road, we looked around. We saw the Lazy G and after reading a number of reviews similar to the one I am writing now, we gave them a call. Thankfully, they were already open. Janice, the owner, was very helpful and after a brief conversation we were all set to arrive the next day, with a room waiting, and at a very reasonable price.

The lodging was even better than we imagined, and Janice capped it off with a welcoming goody bag full of snacks to take with us to a fairly spacious room, with a kitchenette, terrific cable television system, and excellent Wi-Fi throughout. The place appeared to be recently renovated, for example the windows actually worked, which isn’t always the case in other places where layers and years of paint tend to weld them tightly shut. We especially liked the centralized parking area at the Lazy G, with plenty of room even for our truck. It beats trying to wedge a vehicle next to the front door of your room each day, which only causes congestion and difficulty coming and going. No breakfast in the morning here – who needs it?– but free coffee, tea, chocolate, and cookies and the like are in the office at most times day or night. They even have micro-wave popcorn available in case you get stuck inside by a thunderstorm and have to settle for a movie that night.

We loved it at the Lazy G and we stayed more than a week, a few days longer than we originally planned. I can guarantee you that next year, this place will be smack-dab central to our plans, at whatever point of the season that happens to be.

We have been to this motel 12 times so far! Janice, the owner, is great. You simple love here and admire her! Over the years she has improved several things in the rooms. Rooms are clean, comfortable and cosy. There is a flat screen TV, a refridgerator and a coffeemaker in every room, so basically all you need for a good stay. In the office there is a microwave. Outside there are gas BBQ’s for general use. Coffee in the morning is good, she serves it the hole day! It is a relaxing place...feels like home! Not a big motel but small and therefore perfect after a busy day in the park! There is plenty of space to sit outside too. Oh yes, the wood panelled rooms are also a nice contrast compared to your standard motel room. Because it is not on the main roads, it is quiet. If you miss breakfast as an amenity, just go to the Running Bear Pancake House around the corner or to the Book Peddler.

This is my favorite type of motel on a road trip, and from the ratings and over-the-top reviews, we expected a hidden gem sort of place. What we got was a virtually unchanged from the 50's-60s mom and pop motel unit: laminate wall mounted countertops serving as bedside tables, a laminate counter in the living room, quilted bedspreads, 50's style curtains. The bathroom had been updated some (there was a cool spigot in the bathroom sink that changed color with the water temperature - I loved it). The room was adequately clean, but there was some mildew in the bathroom and someone's bobby pin on the floor. The bed was comfortable enough. The sitting choices in the living room were a well used futon and a square table with two chairs. The room had a refrigerator. The kitchenette (extra charge) was accessed from a locked accordion door in the living room. Behind the accordion screen was another small refrigerator, another small table with two kitchen chairs, an interesting vintage unit of sink and two small burners, a microwave and some storage. Supplies were basically good, but there were no dish clothes or dish towels. We would up using the cloth marked "rag" in blue ink that we found on the counter in the living room as a combo dish cloth and towel. It's a bargain for the area, but if you think about the type of motel you would pay $49 for elsewhere, you won't be as disappointed as we were.

This is the second time we've stayed at this older motel. It is without a doubt the cleanest hotel/motel we've ever stayed in (thus the reason we returned). The owners a very friendly and were very kind in working with us when my dad suddenly died and we were within the 5 day cancellation policy. Highly recommend this motel absolutely without reservation.

Room Tip: We like the family room to have more room, but it's closer to the parking lot so we had car doors slamming in the a.m.
