Four dollar glasses of very drinkable Chardonnay at happy hour! We ordered food from the back restaurant and my bacon and mushroom baked potato was so filling I didn't need anything else. Fun place to walk around -- it's huge and there is so much to look at with all of the crazy old signs everywhere. Would love to come back sometime.

A dollar for a can of high life on Mondays. Very relaxed bar, no waitress service but we are used to that, being from the UK. Good atmosphere and staff friendly. If you're looking for a decent bar with cheap booze, this is the place

I went here 20 years ago and last week it seemed exactly the same, except for all the development around it and all the Californians in town. Great local classic joint, great atmosphere. this is a real Montana bar.

Repeatedly, our party of four visited this place while in Whitefish, especially to enjoy the outdoor seating area, which is shaded and quite nice. We ate good sandwiches and enjoyed the specials posted on the board. When they are very busy, it may take a little while to get your food, but you can enjoy the ambiance while waiting. Drink prices were quite reasonable, and you can smoke outside!

Walking Central Ave we sought a light supper , nothing pretentious or heavy. Read each menu and was impressed how varied the cuisine offered in White Fish Montana was. WE finally agreed we would enjoy the funk and oddity of the Great Northern Bar and Grill. WE found our way to the back restaurant past the large bar getting ready for live entertainment that night WE avoided the pool tables on the other side of this large spread out two store wide restaurant. In the back are the booths and tables slightly dark surrounded by western US odds and ends. We were on a Mexican food specialty night Not our first choice. But we did take advantage of the food menu which offered a gigantic Gyro with salad for $9.50 . The other supper was three pieces of fish with chips for $9.50. So each shared to get salad and chips with our meal.
The gyro was stuffed and overflowing with gyro meat and good sauce ( don't make me spell tsiiakii ) the salad was fresh and plentiful. The fish was light in a beer batter and the fries came hot out of the fryer.
What put off some folks was you have to make up your mind and order your meal at the back window and then the staff brings the food to you. The alcohol is at the bar so we wnated one o fthe night's special of Rainier beer for $1 so we had to go to the bar to get it. Not waitress service. "Just come and order it and we will bring it to you" The staff were cheerful and easy to tell us if we were ordering the best in the house.
WE had fun in this odd bar, play house and entertainment center in Whitefish. It has character and is quite inexpensive for Montana.
