We visited in May 2014. No one came to the gate. We called the phone numbers posted at the gate, we honked our horn and no one showed up so we opened the gate and let ourselves in and used the beach. We would have been happy to pay but no one was there that day. The road is good, a regular car can make the trip.
What you get, a nice beach with a park and some gazebos. Swimming is safe, the ocean was rougher at other beaches that we passed. Here there is a little reef that protects bathers from rough seas. The bottom was white sand in most places. The beach had seaweed and other natural debris but no trash. We spent a nice couple of hours at the beach.
Obviously to have food and drinks there has to be some management present. The location is a few miles west of Cotes-des-Fer, there is a sign at the turn from the main road. You can ask the locals for directions if you are not sure, as we did.
