“A Gem of a State Capitol”

We go to all the state Capitols in the states we travel thru and this was one of the best. The grounds are extensive and beautiful. The old capitol building was used by the senate, assembly and Supreme Court in addition to the Governors office and other uses. Now the the Legislature has gone to a separate new building as has the Supreme Court. The governor and other offices are still here as is an excellent small museum explaining the history of the capitol. The newer buildings are on the same parklike grounds or across the street.

It was closed on the day we visited, but got some nice photos. A little smaler than I expected, but still worth the stop.

This is a nice place to visit. The people were very friendly an accommodating. The grounds are well maintained and comfortable. The law enforcement memorial is a must see.

Anytime you are visiting a state capital you must stop by its Capital Building. They are open to the public, free, and have some insight about the history of the state and its government.
The Nevada State Building is over a 100 years old, still working and contains hidden bank vaults around the rooms, if you ask they will show you some.

This is not particularly iconic but friendly staff helped us enjoy the rooms open to the public and we were shown round the private office of the Secretary of State
