The Gilcrease Sanctuary is worth visiting is you are a local or a tourist. I couldn't be happier to pet little billy goats, admiring several llamas observe you from the lookout of a small hill. It's fun talking with very vocal and colorful macaws, cockatiels, love birds, and amazon parrots. Many of the birds are in portable cages so you can get up close to them without getting bitten! Staff are friendly and will take the birds out of the cages so you can take a picture without the cage wire in the frame. It's a nice little stroll and you can visit a desert tortoise, Koi pond, miniature horses, burros, and of course an extensive flock of African geese and Pekin ducks. The fee is a donation (around $4) and it's an easy 1 hour to 2 hour walk around the sanctuary. Wild turkeys (or tame as you see fit) stroll around in pairs, and pose for your photo. There are ostriches in huddles and emus that are more curious about you than you are about them!

This is a fun place you would not expect in Vegas. Go pick your own fruit and veggies. Fun free hay ride around the small property. The food and cider is amazing. They also take credit card.

When it's not hot, good to spend an hour looking at and feeding the animals. We had a family of ducks and baby ducks following us around the whole sanctuary, adorable. Feed is $1 and entrance fees are low, definitely worth the trip with small children

Very nice place. Took my daughter and nephew they are are under 2 years old. They liked the goats and chicken walking around freely my daughter loves birds so she was pretty excited the whole time. Staff is really friendly. Over all we had an awesome time wish they had a food court of something like that.

Ahh only in Vegas! What a great treat to live in the desert and be able to pick your own vegetables and fruit. Make sure you wear shoes you are okay with getting dirty, wear sunscreen, a hat and perhaps if you are really into it some gardening tools to make picking easier. The people here are super nice. Make sure you check their website because their hours of operation change and they also list what is available at the stand without picking.
