NYNY is very kewl from outside. Nice location being right across from MGM, which is GINORMOUS! However, NYNY is actually rather small and only three choices for food late...room service, greasy pizza, or American Cafe (something like that). Worst part is the smoking! Just like all the casinos in LV, smoking is permitted (and encouraged) in all common areas. Only a few casinos have designated non-smoking areas, which do absolutely no good at all. If you go to LV and go to a casino, even if its for a show, you are going to REEK just having walked thru. In this day and age when we know so much about the dangers of tobacco smoke (both first and secondhand) how can this be allowed? We even saw little children rubbing their burning eyes! I don't understand.

Room Tip: Use the monorail that runs behind MGM grand. Takes you from one end of strip to other and can buy al...

Just returned from two nights in Vegas. Stayed in a Park Avenue view room. Amazing view from 27th floor! Nice sized room with all amenities including free Internet. Located near south end of strip near several other great casinos. No buffet but several good restaurants. Also buffets in hotels all around. Close enough to a variety of different hotels with contrasting themes. Had a great time!

Very good choice of accommodations on the strip. From check- in to the ease of rapid checkout, all aspects of the casino were outstanding. The room was on the 21st floor, very spacious, clean and offered a great view. Would like to have had a coffee maker in the room but then Starbucks would lose out on business. The only drawback to the experience was there was to much smoke on the gaming floor.

recently stayed at New York New York in las vegas ideally suited for all shows and shops straight out the hotel entrance straight onto las vegas strip. if booking a helicopter trip its best to book through hotel as when buying tickets for the helicopter ride on the strip from the shops they might seem cheaper but they dont include airport tax which you have to pay before you get on the helicopter. we used Maverick very good even picked you up and dropped you back to your hotel. room was very comfy. if you play the slots and the waitress offers you a drink the drink is free you just tip her a dollar a drink. the food mall across the road very good chinese panda express also a subway there as well.

We stayed at New York, New York for a week (January 2011) as we were attending a convention.. Upon checkin they said the nonsmoking room we had booked was not available so had to check to see what else was available. Customer service person went to the back to speak with a manager and we waited for a good 10+ minutes--seemed like a used car salesman scene as she came back and offered to waive the $15 day resort fee and did locate an upgraded room that cost a bit more.....
On the plus side, there are 2 Starbucks located in the hotel and room service was actually the best meal we ate all week--the macaroni and cheese was to die for believe it or not! Also, the transportation (tram station)to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center is literally across the street. Negatives were the restaurants in the hotel were all a really poor version of Friday's all frozen and then microwaved meals plus the check in process was slow and cost more than when we had booked the room online.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view of the strip!

Went for short get away on Tues-Thurs. Casino 70% empty. Bars half full. Mostly families roaming about. Understand why Vegas economy down.
Felt like Disneyland instead of Vegas.
Food & drink expensive.
Rather go to Mexico or Central America.
