We have Use New York, New York Many times on our visits to Las Vegas,,BUT!!!
This trip show how the Old Lady really needs an up-grade really Bad,,,We had a Fantastic Room,,,The Maid Service was Just GREAT!!!,,The Room was Clean,,,Well Kept and the bedding was so soft, I thought i was on a cloud,,,But The bathroom was so out of touch with normal Perople that I felt a Little scared Using it,,,,We were in room 1775, the Tub was covered by the shower door(One of those 1970 slideing ones) and I had to Lift my leg almost up to my hip to get into the shower,,Then there was No-Mat on the tub bottom and I had to hold on to the top of the shower door so that I would not fall,,,(Very Un-safe),,,,,
The Second Problem was the Long Walk from the Elev. to the Room,,Unless you knew where or what part of the Hotel you were staying in (Like the New York Tower or the Century) You had a Serious Damn walk from the Elev. to your Room,,,,for People up in age like Myself (50 & Up)
it was like a Morning Walk,,,,We still Love the Hotel,,and most of all because it is so Centrally Located to all the new Hotels (The Aria, the Cosmo & the Or) it makes it easy to see it all and enjoy it,,,,But if you stay at NYNY,,,Just be prepared to step back into time,,,and why is a hotel like NYNY still charging Resort-Fees???????,,,Makes No-sense to me,,,when all the other Strip Hotels do Not,,,,

Room Tip: Ask for a Room near the Elev, so that you dsonot have to walk a Mile to get to your room

Third trip to Vegas ( did the Drive-thru Wedding in 2004!! @ The Little White Wedding Chapel ). We have stayed at Circus Circus twice before (once with the kids), and felt it was too far down the strip. NYNY was perfect for our 6 night stay - we aren't big gamblers ( just an occasional play on the slot machines ), so we appreciated not having to cover miles across the casino floor to get to the lifts to our room. We had a spa suite in the New Yorker tower (14th floor) - and it was awesome (500 sq ft) - were offered the opportunity to pay another 300 for an upgrade to a 1100sq ft room - but honestly, why bother?? How much space do two people need? The spa suite was great!! Room had an uninspiring view of the carpark and roller coaster (noise from this not an issue) - but you shouldn't be sitting in your room staring out the window anyway!! You are in Vegas!! - get out there!!
Great New York themed dining options ( Deli, Pizza etc) and Ben & Jerrys, Starbucks etc, alongside Steak and Mexican.
We were there for St Patricks Day - which was fun!! It was also Spring Break - so the streets were more crowded than usual. Crowd well behaved, only annoying thing out on the streets is the Guys & Girls clicking the Escort services cards...
Easy to get up and down the strip by either walking or riding the Deuce!! - also used the SDX Express bus to the Factory Outlets ( North Premium Outlets more high-end, South better for runners and jeans )
Efficient check-in and we used the express check out (thru the tv in our room )- no issues.

Room Tip: The higher floors are always better - consider a spa suite (great to unwind after all that walking up and down the strip every day).

NYNY is very kewl from outside. Nice location being right across from MGM, which is GINORMOUS! However, NYNY is actually rather small and only three choices for food late...room service, greasy pizza, or American Cafe (something like that). Worst part is the smoking! Just like all the casinos in LV, smoking is permitted (and encouraged) in all common areas. Only a few casinos have designated non-smoking areas, which do absolutely no good at all. If you go to LV and go to a casino, even if its for a show, you are going to REEK just having walked thru. In this day and age when we know so much about the dangers of tobacco smoke (both first and secondhand) how can this be allowed? We even saw little children rubbing their burning eyes! I don't understand.

Room Tip: Use the monorail that runs behind MGM grand. Takes you from one end of strip to other and can buy all day or multi-day passes. Cheaper and faster.
