“Loved our stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

We stayed there one night and had a great time. Although we checked out at noon, they allowed us to use the pool all afternoon before our evening flight home. The room was great and we had an outstanding view of the strip. We have stayed in 5 other hotels on previous visits and this is our favorite. We will be staying here again. Like others have said, we were disappointed that the pool closed at 5:00pm (mid-March) and the sun was shinning til 7:00pm. I wish they would keep it open longer.

PROS: Great Location, Rooms not too spendy, classic hotel on the strip, great on-site shows ( Cirque Du Soleil LOVE, Terry Fator ventriloquist, Siegfried and Roy's zoo), lots of restaurants and bars, good service, nice clean rooms with flatscreen TVs, nice view of the famous volcano
CONS: Steep mandatory hotel fees ($25 + $3 per night), does not have the Wow factor, weak store selection, wi-fi did not reach the pool area and was weak in the hotel rooms, no central theme, the in-room fridge is stocked with very overpriced items, and cannot be used for personal stuff, lacks style.
SUMMARY: This is a good hotel for first timers in Vegas, since the great location and the on-site shows will make walking around easier. The hotel is old compared to most other hotels there, and not as glamourous. The slot machines are getting dated (although they do have new ones), there is no general theme fo the hotel (most other hotels have a central theme), and everything is very overpriced (except for the Starbucks, imagine that!). I probably would not stay there again, but I would recommend it to newcomers.

This hotel is the complete package -- great value, great room, great activities, great food and (best of all) great people! I'm always amazed at the sheer number of people that are in Vegas at any given time and how difficult it must be for hotels to compete for travelers business. I think the Mirage has figured it out by hiring the best people. In every capacity, we found the employees to be helpful, knowledgeable, and....NICE. Imagine that!

Our room was clean and a nice size for our family of four. But, if they had asked me to design the room (ha!), I would have made the bathroom larger and the "entry" area smaller. Also, be warned, it's quite a hike from the front desk to the guest elevators, and another hike down the hallways to the rooms...but you'll welcome the exercise after all the good food in Vegas!

We ate at three of the restaurants within the Mirage, and they were all good. The food was above average and the service was stellar. With the exception of one lazy and tired waiter in the burger place, we had very engaging, friendly servers that really went above and beyond.

The Sleep Quality score on our stay at the Mirage, is ranked as "average" because of the lumpy bed (which may just be a personal preference), and the hallways seemed to be rather loud. Sure, while in Vegas you kind of expect those late night partiers to loudly go back to their room, but you also hear the maids, and normal conversations. Maybe heavier room doors would solve the problem.

And if you go to the Mirage, do not miss the Cirque show "Love". Seriously...don't miss it. Worth every penny.

Stayed there for one night as part of a driving tour so don't know price. Room was ok but bathroom had - urgh - other people's hair in the corners. Did have the best mattress and bedding. Reception, bars etc not very attractive especially when compared with others. Have dolphins and white tigers which are either an attraction or not depending on your view point. No drink making facilities in room and breakfast - wide range of options ok quality. Tried to give us someone else's car when we left, lol!

We Spent 3 nights there during my daughter's spring break. We wanted to spend time at the pool and time shopping at the near by Fashion Place Mall. Disappointed by the pool closing at 6pm even when the sun was shining bright and strong until 7:30! (And after then would have been nice to have a late night jacuzzi after a long day on our feet!!) Beds comfy, bathroom small. Service fine. Restaurants good. Location perfect. Dolphins were fun to see, not too touristy.

Room Tip: Fun to see Volcano from room (strip view).

My first impression was not good. There are no revolving doors in the main entryway; only doors with handles that to be pulled open. Besides the sanitary issue, it is not very convenient for handling luggage. The path from the front door to the elevators is an extremely long distance, and there were no bellmen around to help with luggage. The room was nice; bathroom is small; bed is comfortable; had difficulty maintaining a cool temperature. There are no vending machine on each floor; you have to go down to the main floor gift shop to purchase sodas, snacks, or water. There are so many other nice places to stay in Vegas that I do not plan to ever return to The Mirage. There is no room service after 10:00 or 11:00 p.m.

We just spent two nights at the Mirage which is our first time back at this hotel in about five years. We travel to Vegas 3-4 times a year to see family. We have been dividing our stays between TheHotel, Venetian, Palazzo, Bellagio and The Wynn. Money is a little tight right now, so we decided to take advantage of the great rates at the Mirage; especially given it's superb location.

Valet service and check-in was easy and pleasent. We upgraded our room to the "private" 25th floor which had a larger bathroom (seperate jetted tub and shower). The decor was a retro Beatles "Love" inspired theme accented in bright orange. All of the lighting in the room was harsh flourescent lighting. The bed was comfortable; but we could feel that bright orange through our closed eyelids.

The bathroom had no vanity mirror (we did not call to request one) and it was nice to have two sinks. But again, that harsh lighting was really irritating.

In times past, we felt special at The Mirage partly because of the upscale decor and attention to the details that matter in a room. The resort fee was increased from $20 to $25 recently, and I really don't mind paying an extra fee IF I get compensated by additional amenities like in room coffee or a morning paper or upgraded amenities. However, there was free wireless in the room and if you want to access to the gym you can take advantage of that. Our room also had robes. I still don't see where that $25 per night resort fee enhances the experience.

The checkout process needs to be streamlined. The wait time in line is far too long. Ordinarily I would use the in-room video checkout, but there was a glitch in the system that didn't allow me to access both my and my husband's accounts.

In the past, I would have given The Mirage 4 stars; but it has lost that "certain something".

Room Tip: If you are paying for a "strip view" be sure to ask for a room further away from the eleva...
