I strongly urge when able to get away from the Big Resort Hotels - although they are part of the local economy, they are primarily owned or backed by out of area larger, national corporations - plus the food and service and pricing are nowhere near as favorable as the were prior to the early 90's.

The Chart House, although part of an out of area corporation, still does offer great food, at great prices served by locals and in a beautiful setting. If you are able to get a table with a view, all the better.

I really appreciate and enjoy:

Their daily updated menus with the fresh fish availability notated.

I really enjoy their wine lists, pricing and by-the-glass offerings of premium wines at reasonable pricing (all things considered of course)

Word of caution - when driving to and from the Stateline area in NV, watch out for the Nevada Highway Patrol, Sheriff Patrols and State Troopers. They are out in force every night but in particular weekend and Holiday events just waiting to do their job. That in itself is not a problem or 'bad thing' - just think twice about whether you can or should drive, or take advantage of local transportation rather than put anyone at risk due to a poor decision you might make. It is not worth the risk! Drive Safe!

We were there at 4 pm, the bar was full by 4:45. Really good food and deal. Great place to watch sunset. Calamari and prime rib sliders should not be missed.

My wife and I dined at the Chart House in the South Lake Tahoe area on a Sunday night in middle September. We easily booked a table on Open Table and were promptly seated for our 7:15 reservation. We had previously eaten at other Chart locations, so we were expecting a great meal, and this one didn't disappoint.

We started sharing the Ahi Tuna Appetizer. Very fresh tuna with a nice sauce. We both ordered fish - I ordered the crusted Mahi Mahi and my wife ordered the grilled halibut. Shortly after placing the order the server returned and said they were out of the halibut. A bit strange, as it was still pretty early in the evening. No worries - she opted for the blackened halibut. Both fish entrees were perfectly done and very tasty. We both had rice for our side, and our fish also came with some veggies. Service was very good without any delay.

A nice touch was we were celebrating our 45 th wedding anniversary. The menu we were given at the beginning of the meal had happy anniversary printed on the top with the years we were celebrating. They also offered us a nice desert on the house.

The Chart House is a very reasonably priced restaurant. Both entrees were under $35 and we each had a $12.50 glass of wine. Sure it's a chain, but if you like fresh fish The Chart House is for you!!!

They have an early dining menu but you have to ask for it. I ordered the steak and pasta but it had very little flavor. The Caesar salad had greens that were not fresh. The meal did not meet my expectations for a Chart House restaurant .Service was fine and a nice atmosphere but the meal overall was disappointing.

Back to celebrate a birthday, this time for our daughter. From the birthday menu to the birthday cake, a fabulous evening.of food and drink, plus a beautiful view of the lake. The whole experience is why we try to celebrate birthdays in Tahoe and at the Chart House.
