We are frequent guests at the Inn and it is wonderful. The inn is clean the grounds are well maintained. The beaches are great, plenty of room to dig in the sand or float on a raft. The inn keepers Bob and Maria treat you like your family, and the staff could not be more friendly. The location is perfect if your spending time on the big lake and families are always welcomed.

Room Tip: The little House in the cove has lots of privacy. Room 4 corner room nice view of the lake

We stayed in the DeFalco room for 4 nights. This room is small, but has all the necessities-bathroom, air conditioner, tv, wifi. It was spotless which is important to me. Big fluffy towels each day and beautiful views of the cove. Coffee is provided in the morning as well as some pastries. The owners, Bob and Maria, are on site and very friendly and accommodating, as was the room staff. My one suggestion would be to put a lamp on each side of the bed, as it was impossible to read without one. Also, another clothes hook in the bathroom would help. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, the mattress and pillows were very comfortable and we slept very well. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Great views from most rooms. Very quiet.

We enjoyed our weekend stay here as a last minute get away from the city heat. Our room which was #1, was plenty big and very clean. The linens were spotless and fresh, and the bath towels nice and fluffy. Bathroom was clean and tiny. The mattress in this room really should be replaced. It is very squeaky and every time either one of us turned over it woke the other up. Not exactly the R&R we had planned. Also, there is not really any breakfast provided here at all. There's coffee (no decaf) and some sort of store bought baked goods covered up on a plate. This really should be stepped up. Somebody in this area has to be doing home baked pastries that could be ordered in fresh along with some fruit. Most B&B or Inn type of places also have soft toilet paper! They are cutting some corners here. The wraparound porch is a very relaxing place to sit and read or play a game, and there's a little dock where if you're a boater you can tie up for $30 a day. There is technically a "beach" but it is TINY and between two boat docks. This corner of Smith Cove is very much marina oriented with many power boats around. We did not find it noisy or smelly. Decor is spare. In our room there was an antique-ish lamp and an antique-looking doll, as well as a sign saying if you take anything your card will be charged. How hospitable! The inn keeper(s) were not around. If you are traveling with no car (we have a small airplane) you will want to either bring your bikes along, be prepared to walk, or take a car service everywhere because other than The Lyon's Den there is nothing close to here at all. This area is a quiet summer resort and people seem to mostly grill out and prepare their own food.

The inn itself was beautiful and well kept. Because of the view that was so breathtaking, you could feel yourself relaxing within minutes of arriving. There were so many great places to sit outside including a small private beach. The innkeepers were very friendly and did everything to make your stay great. Many wonderful places to eat and a few offered discounts because you were staying at the inn. There were places nearby to rent boats, go for a boat ride on the lake or just to visit for shopping. There was always tea, coffee and a fresh baked good waiting for you in the living room when you woke up.

Room Tip: just pick one of the front rooms, so you have a great view of the inlet from your room.

As you take the winding road down into the cove where the Inn is located, you'll realize that you're in a quiet, secluded location. The Inn is a lovely place to enjoy your stay on Lake Winnipesaukee. Your hosts, Bob and Maria, are a friendly and FUN pair. They welcome you as though you are guests to their home (which you basically are!). Keep that in mind as you read the few negative reviews here -- some reviewers may not have taken the time to discuss their issues with Bob or Maria, who are more than happy to chat with you. Having read that there is a sign keeping you off the grass, I asked Bob, and he told me they just want to discourage people from treading on certain areas, because it makes a "trail" in the beautifully manicured lawn. Fair enough! As a guest, I'd rather see well-maintained grounds than dirt paths created by foot traffic :)

We stayed in the Lighthouse, and it was GREAT. This "cottage" is completely unique, and unlike anywhere you've stayed before. This would be great for 2 adults that are limber enough to navigate a spiral staircase. As you enter the Lighthouse, there is the queen size bed, and small furnishings; you ascend the stairs to visit the spacious and light bathroom, which has a 2-person jacuzzi. We enjoyed the Lighthouse (and yes, the spiral stairs too!) because it was cozy, romantic and fun! there's a small porch out front too!

The Inn is on the water, though as mentioned, on a cove, so no, do not expect sweeping views of the lake. However, you will still enjoy the lake, as there is a dock and covered seating area that extends over the water - very relaxing! The "beach" area is small, but it does the trick, if you're just looking to relax with your toes in the sand. The Gilford and Ellacoya State Park beaches are very nearby.

When booking this Inn, do realize that this is a renovated Victorian home. The main house is beautiful, and although it is a fairly casual place to stay, I don't think it would be a great getaway location to bring a group that has several kids.
Again, this is an INN:
-- It is NOT a resort offering an extensive breakfast buffet - the coffee and cake are to start your day, not to provide your complete morning nourishment.
-- It is NOT a hotel offering surplus space to stow your bicycle.
-- It is NOT a location in which all your entertainment needs are met. Plan to get on the lake, and/or take part in the many other local activities.
-- It IS a customer-friendly environment in which you will probably socialize with other guests (especially if you want to sit on the comfortable porch chairs and share a few laughs), so look elsewhere if you prefer not to engage with others, including the friendly owners.

When I think of an "inn", I envision a quiet setting, a comfortable place to rest, and friendly people. This is exactly what you'll get at the Inn at Smith Cove. All that, plus a great location!!!
Thank you to Bob and Maria, for creating such a warm and comfortable environment, and making us feel welcome in their "home".

Room Tip: If you have a sense of adventure, pick the Lighthouse - it's cozy, romantic and FUN

The inn is located right on Smith Cove on New Hampshire's best lake, Lake Winnipesaukee. It is peaceful, quiet, and exceptionally clean. I particularly enjoy sitting on the gazebo (located right over the lake) and enjoying the evening breeze. The innkeepers are always very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home. While the inn is not advertised as a bed and breakfast, I should point out that a lovely breakfast is provided each morning. This was a very pleasant surprise that was enjoyed by all in residence. My advice is to come and enjoy the inn's beautiful beach and give this place a try. There are many places to dine and visit in the area. The innkeepers are glad to provide advice and coupons to many of the local attractions.

Lovely Victorian guest house sitting right onthe edge of the lake. So peaceful sitting in the gazebo watching the boats go slowly by. The room was nicely decorated and spotless. However disappointed at poor provision of breakfast (a piece of cake and a coffee out of a thermos in a polystyrene cup!) and it would have been nice to have access to tea and coffee making facilities and drinking water. Great getaway for exploring the lake though.
