This place is pretty fantastic. My husband, friend, and I stumbled in on a Saturday evening for a few drinks and we weren't disappointed. It was on the emptier side when we arrived, but nearly every stool and table was full by the time we left.

It's a very minimalist atmosphere, with clean, modern lighting. It's not one of those over-decorated, tacky "faux Irish" pubs that spring up all over the country, and I appreciate that they went with simplicity and cleanliness.

We'd just eaten before coming but I regretted that once I saw the menu. It's upscale but casual, with lots of twists on Irish classics that sounded fresh and appealing. Next time I definitely want to have a meal here.

The whiskey menu is incredible. They've got whiskeys and blends from all over the country (including some great local stuff), plus lots of international and hard-to-find whiskeys. My husband sampled four or five different kinds and he was very satisfied. I mostly stuck to beer (they have a great beer list, too) but I did have a shot of local moonshine (Monadnock Moonshine) and it was awesome. The bartender was even kind enough to let me be a total tourist and snap a photo of the bottle. She was a very attentive bartender, but not in the annoying way. All of our orders were correct, and splitting the bill between my group wasn't a problem.

The only downside was that it was very warm inside, on a fairly warm day. My husband had to go out for some air at one point, and I was feeling pretty sleepy and warm by the time we left, even though I wasn't drunk. It was also a little on the pricey side, but we got some great beer and whiskey and everything was definitely worth it.

We will definitely be back!

The greater Peterborough area is in need of really excellent restaurants. We were hopeful when we ate at Cooper's Hill recently. Very limited menu, the service was slow even with a full contingent of servers and bar help. In fact, there were more of them than customers. Their core focus is whiskey, many varieties and even cook with it. The calamari was good and marina sauce (I suspect was made with some whiskey) was very good. Steak tips were good and tender. The Bangers, so so. Gave them a 3 rating for service and limited menu with little kitchen creativity.

My adult kids' second time in (though first time was just for a late evening beer), this was my first visit as an out-of-towner. A first-generation single screen movie theatre and more recently a successful Italian restaurant, this Irish pub just opened a month or so ago.

Good food. Friendly service. Slow bar service . Not bad. Room for improvement.

It took 10-15 minutes for cocktails and beers to arrive. The problem was simply that there was one bartender and the bar and restaurant was full. I'm told the same situation occurred during the kids' first visit. Face it, guys; your restaurant is on its way to success. Hire a second bartender!

We started with Irish nachos. Especially tasty. Two of us had two kinds of burgers. Big, beefy, flavorful, and heaped with toppings. So good.

The brown liquid list is impressive...already known for the wide and deep selection of scotch, whiskey, bourbon and rye.

Another nice touch was the live Irish music late afternoon on a Sunday.

We'll be back soon. As good as it all was, we know Cooper's will work through their new restaurant issues, and that this will be a very successful venue.

Brand new restaurant with a welcoming owner and friendly staff in a great location, still getting their stride. The salmon was perfectly cooked, along with tasty mashed potatoes; we look forward to trying their other selections. Unfortunately, the salad came without dressing; chalk that up to a startup oversight. Both the bar and the tables nearly full and it was still early. Cooper's Hill promises to be a popular restaurant.
