The room was nice, with a comfortable bed. It was very clean. The only thing missing was a coffee maker in the room. The staff was always helpful and friendly.
The breakfast had some interesting gourmet items and yummy granola.
The hotel is in a lovely old building with gorgeous woodwork. The are nice sitting rooms on the first floor that are great for reading or chatting with friends (but I didn't enjoy the music that was always playing in them). The hotel is easy walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Portsmouth.
This is not a cheap hotel, but that seems to be the way Portsmouth is. I was visiting for a special occasion, so I didn't mind spending more than I usually do for lodging.More
