Lived within 10 miles of Browns for years. Never visited there until we came up from South Carolina. Food was great. Fresh tasty with Brown's great rustic atmosphere. Right on the river. Plenty of free parking. A must try if you are on the seacoast. Try it.

Stopped in for a late dinner (if you call 8:00 late), on a weeknight. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and the dining room staff was cleaning up around us, hoping to get out as soon as possible after the 9:00 closing. Placed our order at the outside window (no personality form the cashier), and went in to find a seat. Waited a bit of time for our number to be called. Food was not extremely hot, more like warm. We opted for fried seafood. I HATE coated French froes, so I was immediately disappointed. The clams were OK, scallops were OK, and haddock was OK. For the price they were charging (2 plates, 2 bottles of water - $50), the experience should have been much better, or the helpings should have been bigger...

We had lunch at Browns today and were extremely disappointed. Cold food, onions rings were over cooked, clams were chewy and tasteless.....haddock and scallops were pretty good...french fries were coated and aweful. Not how we remembered this fine place years ago. Don't bother eating here...a tourist rip-off!

I have driven past Brown's on the way to the beach for many years but, have never stopped because of the long lines. I figured with it being so busy all of the time they must have great food so, this year we stopped for dinner. Well, we should have kept on driving! Although the lines were long, they moved fairly quickly and the staff was friendly and helpful. However, after waiting almost 30 minutes after ordering, our food was finally ready. What a disappointment! We ordered clam strips with onion rings and scallops with clams and fries. All was so over cooked and hard. Instead of being a nice golden color everything was a dark greasy brown. The food was not that lightly crispy texture you expect from fried foods but hard and more than just a little crunchy. Lesson learned, just because the place is busy outside, does not mean good food inside.

My family and I make sure we stop at Browns at least once on our vacation every year. The food is always good and the prices are very reasonable. You can bring in your own beer and wine which is nice. You can’t go wrong eating here it’s a must when vacationing at the beach !
