We last dined here about three years ago when we had the unfortunate experience of arriving on a night when the place was almost totally filled by a single party and the maitre'd was discouraging further guests. He's still a bit on the gruff side but, once seated, we were served by a waiter who could not have been more informative and solicitous. Though the dipping oil is not their best feature the bread accompaniment was toothy and flavorful and the nightly main course special (Cajun scallops) was outstanding. A generously filled glass of merlot completed a fine meal. The rear dining room is sparingly but tastefully furnished to evoke the building's two centuries plus heritage and its connection with George Washington.
