We did google for a river front dining that offered a short ride from Jersey City and had a nice river front view of the city. So Haven popped up and the rest was history.

Reservations at 7:30 and we were greeted by the valet which charged $5.00 to park you ride. Inside the ladies at the podium greeted us and we requested a river view inside seating and our wish was granted. An outdoor table would take about 20-30 minutes. Waiting on us was PAUL, who was kind, polite, and pleasant, and on his game. A bottle of 2014 Gary Farrell Russian River Chardonnay started the night... oh so smooth!!!
A couple of apps were ordered. We got the pretzel crusted fried calamari, and the shrimp Firecracker. Both apps were splendid. Nice flavor, no oily taste, and the pretzel crusted calamari was so good!!! Different flavor and taste so different from the typical flour drenched taste... gotta try it!!!
It comes with on the side, a chili based marinara sauce and a spicy mustard for your dipping pleasures.

For the main course, my girlfriend ordered the grilled shrimp spinach tonnarelli pasta, and I had the spicy grilled duck. Both dishes were flavorful, prepped just right, good taste on the palate and delish.

Overall, awesome dinner, excellent service by Paul, great bottle of wine and the view can't be beat. The decor of the dining room is clean, chic, dark with circular ceiling lighting and great ambiance.

We were a larger party and the staff were very accommodating enough.Great menu executed well. Not full marks as the place is stiff, nearly frosty and with a poor sound balance.

Positives: awesome views particularly during late evening, very helpful and friendly staff (right from party manager to waiting staff), good flexibility offered in menu to create veg options to offer variety, ease of parking nearby

Negatives: mixed views about food items from our 35 odd member team- scope to improve there. I personally liked stir fry noodles, pudding was ok, some good salads n fruit based desserts

I really enjoyed the grilled organic chicken on salad, however, the bisque was way too over salted that I had to return it. The champagne by the glass was perfect for a hot summer day.

It's a nice place for lunch that isn't easily found in Edgewater but it is a bit overpriced.

Being outside by the water is nice but it also comes with plenty of helicopter and construction noise as well as plenty of sun.

I don't really see the point of going to HAVEN if not sitting outside though or if going out in the evening. There are better restaurants with better views as well as better prices around.

I recommend as a lunch spot.

My family first took me to Haven for Fathers Day last year. We sat outside with a view of the water and the City. The service was impecable (service is part of any dining experience and here it is top-notch). The food was very good. They have very fresh seafood as well as meat and vegetarian options (we have three kids, and each has his preferences). Management was also present and checked in on our lunch, unobtrusively ensuring all was ok.

My wife and I returned a few weeks later for date night. Unfortunately, her dish was not edible. We didn't make a fuss but we informed the waiter that we could not eat it. When the bill came, the item was left on the bill. I didn't think this was right and usually don't make a fuss, preferring instead to write honest reviews and not return. But the first visit had been so good that I chose to mention the issue to the management, who promptly issued a gift certificate to make up for the meal. We ended up returning several times after that for date night and each time since it has been consistently good. I highly recommend it.
