Lured in for our first visit to Chef's Table by the knowledge that this restaurant had my favorite dessert on the menu (profiteroles) my husband and I ended up having a delicious dinner from start to finish. For appetizers we shared the mushroom ravioli and the leek and onion tart. Great start. We also shared two entrees--peppercorn tuna and and potato crusted halibut. Both delicious, fresh and artfully presented. On to the profiteroles and peach melba..each dessert delighting our taste buds. Service also excellent. Venue is small and décor simple..fine with us; the food was the star attraction. We both look forward to returning!

This place is amazing. Family owned and run authentic French cooking that is perfect in every way. The oyster appetizer was perfect, as were the escargots (which are served in little crocks topped with puff pastry). A special last night was soft shell crabs and they were perfect. I had the monkfish. Never had anything like it and I cook and love monkfish a lot. Desserts were also amazing. This was one of the best meals we have eaten in this country in over 10 years. We can't wait to return. An added plus is that they have no liquor license and adequate glasses to accommodate the wine(s) you bring. Entrees are pricey (over $30) but when you don't get ripped off by the wine mark up, you end up spending less for more.
I cannot say enough about The Chef's Table, a surprising find in a strip mall in New Jersey.

This was our second trip to the Chef's Table, and we were fortunate enough to catch a cancellation on relatively short notice (you really should book reservations for a Saturday night several weeks in advance). The place is lovely and intimate (only 10 tables), with artwork adorning the walls. Claude continues to turn out the best French Food in the county, and his wife waitresses, assisted by an able group of you people which have been well taught about the value of great service.
Our group chose the Duck L'Orange, which was prepared perfectly, and I chose the quail special, which was also fantastic! Appetizers were all incredible (I am very partial to the escargot in little crocks with a pastry top - mmm)
Deserts were also outstanding - I had the profiteroles, which are ice cream puffs with chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
This is a BYO place, which keep your costs for this extraordinary experience very reasonable - in fact I would not only rate this a 5 star experience, but also a "best buy".
Thanks you Claude and Delores; we look forward to coming back.

Must be the best classic French restaurant in Northern NJ, if not the entire state. The well-trained chef has worked at Lutece in the past, and still does things the old-fashioned way. Don't be put off by the location, a strip mall, because you are in another world once you enter the space. Expect dishes not so easy to find, such as the superb Long Island duck, salmon in parchment paper, French baked onion soup, onion and leek tart, plus so many other dishes. Save room for desserts such as tarte tatin. Because of New Jersey's bizarre liquor licensing laws, you can bring your own wine with no corkage fee. GO NOW while chef Claude Baills is still there!

After over a year we came back to this "joule of the crown" french restaurant
Chef/Owner Klodde makes miracles in the kitchen. First you get to the table fresh backed rolls with Mousse liver pate and Butter. We both Started with his signitur French Onion Soup. The broth, the pieces of bread, and the Cheese on the top makes it a perfect dish. We continue with Cordon Blue
made out of Veal with the write amount of Cheese and French Ham. Mesh Potato and steam Vegetable was niceliy decorate the plate. Now lets talk Dessert time…. The Crepe Suzette is a must, no other place that i know serve such a perfect criation. Another one that we enjoy emmensly is the Chocolate Mousse. The Espresso was hot and strong like in Paris. This is a BYO place. Service is very attending, Reservation is a must. Bon Appetite.
