Stopped in for a late dinner in this small authentic restaurant. The service was prompt, our waitress was lovely and the food was amazing!!! My husband and I both had the gyro platter with lamb and beef. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the portions were gargantuan. So, so delicious. Also, the sautéed veggies were fresh and and well seasoned. The desserts looked incredible, but there was no room left for them. We’ll be back for sure, and save room for dessert. This place was a total find.
This is a quaint restaurant with about 15 tables in a small shopping plaza. Our waiter Michael was adoreable and did a great job. This was our third time here and everytime we run into our neighbors and friends. It's homey and the food is authentically delicious. We all had salads which were fresh, cold and packed with tomatoes, cucumbers and great feta cheese. I had the whole dorado fish. It came with either lemon potatoes, rice or vegetables. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. The couple at the next table actually got the same thing and shared it. The rest of my friends ordered the pork chop which was enjoyed by all. We did have dessert. They had a choice of only two items. Of course one was baklava and the other was a puffed pastry with a sweet creamed filling. It was lovely. They had a television playing all the scenery of the Greek Islands. Boy would I like to go there now. On the whole this is a very nice restaurant, and we enjoy coming back here from time to time.
My friends and I met up for lunch at Faros. When we walked in and saw the restaurant was busy, we thought it was an indicator of a good dining experience.
For our appetizers, our server recommended the Kria pikilia tis pareas, an assortment of dips and spreads with pita bread. It was well presented and was delectable. When we ran out of pita, we were told there was an upcharge. We ordered it anyway.
Two from our party, including myself, ordered the Faros Seafood Salad. The combination of fried calamari with steamed mussel, shrimp and crabmeat mixed together was totally wrong. It should have only been either fried, grilled or steamed, not combined. To make it worse, the so-called unique sauce tasted like diluted mayonnaise poured all over the seafood and was horrible. Being a Greek restaurant, we thought we were getting something more Mediterranean, perhaps an olive oil and lemon dressing or maybe a white wine with garlic sauce. Hungry as I was, I found the seafood salad inedible. I ended up going back and eating the appetizer instead.
Our other friends ordered the Yiouvetzi (lamb shank served over orzo) and the Fricasee (braised lamb shank in lemon sauce). They said it was just okay.
For dessert, we decided to share the galaktoboureko. This did not taste fresh. The phyllo was very soggy and the custard was too dense.
The consensus from our group was that we tried Faros and we don't think we'll be back.
We come to Faros as often as we can to enjoy their wonderful lunches. My husband and I stopped in for Valentine’s Day this year and had an amazing meal. If you have never been here, you come into a small but very welcoming restaurant where the smells of delicious food hit you immediately. More importantly, however, you are quickly greeted by the most charming and friendly waitress named Karen, who not only provides you with excellent service and advise on selections, but is the most pleasant and joyful person you would ever want to meet . Karen really wants you to enjoy your meal here and with the great chefs and wonderful owner, Faros is a true find. I had the moussaka which was wonderful and my husband had a salad with delicious fresh seafood in a delicious sauce. The portions are extremely generous and we were able to take home food for dinner! I look forward to having lunch there in a few weeks(love their lamb burger and eggplant dish) and it will be delightful to see Karen again! Enjoy this wonderful restaurants!!!!
