We had not been here for awhile but glad we got back finally. The food is still very good and in some cases excellent. We like to try lots of small plates and restaurant is BYOB which we had forgotten. The ceviche is excellent, we also tried another raw fish style which was delicious as well. The meal was well paced and our server was very attentive. He kept our glasses filled with water, changed silverware and removed plates as we finished.

We were looking for a good Peruvian restaurant after dropping off somebody at Newark airport and found this spot. It was a good choice. Dinner was a bit pricier than we thought but well put together. Entree portions are big so technically shareable. We ordered a number of appetizers so we could all enjoy some classic Peruvian dishes. The less remarkable one was the chicken anticucho, but still good. Really good sauces and ajis. Service was Ok, not particularly stellar.

Good food, Soy sliced steak, as you would think, a little too salty. Peruvian chicken, outstanding. Interesting appetizers. Fish, chicken, steak, vegetarian, all here.

Our first time to this Peruvian place will not be our last. We learned a couple of things...reservations are good even on a Sunday night, two appetizers and one main course should be enough for two people and leave enough room for dessert and get a good table! Food was flavorful, spicy but not too spicy and we even liked the Anticuchos Clasico with beef hearts! Next time we will bring bigger appetites.

So when a loved one means the world to you and you want to make them happy for their birthday with a wonderful meal, what do you do? Ah yes, you ask yourself where and what they would like to experience and savor on their special day. After much research and deciphering many a review the eccentricity of the unusual fit the bill - Costanera it was going to be! After contacting the restaurant initially and two more times to secure a “Happy Birthday” chorus with a desert candle I had to make sure Grandma and her grandchildren were well taken care of. All three times the chorus with dessert as well as two high chairs were reserved and promised. The special day came and no high chairs, no chorus and no candle with dessert. When they were reminded, all the manager said tonight was I’m sorry. She said, but we got you the high chairs later. Oh yeah, that was after grandma strongly had suggested they reach out to other restaurants to find a high chair. Yeah, food was good and grandma will be applying for the new manager’s position? Really........ Barbaric! Grandma is now at home baking her own birthday cake! Shame on Costanera!

It means a lot that you chose us for the celebration, so I'm deeply sorry we dropped the ball on the birthday festivities. We always go above and beyond to meet requests like this, so I can't imagine why the cake, chorus, and high chairs weren't all provided and ready to go. I'll be sure to review this with my team to make sure we never repeat these mistakes. I appreciate you taking the time to send this feedback my way, and I hope we might have the chance to make it up to you with a wonderful visit soon.

Best wishes,
Juan, Owner
