“Oh for the noise!”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

My room was facing the highway and the windows are so thin that I felt like I was sleeping in a tent! The traffic noise and sirens were constant and did not exactly cuddle me to sleep. Make sure you ask for a room away from the highway. I could also hear the bathroom sliding door from the room above me every time they opened or closed it. That was annoying. You need to prepare for a parking charge (in the small print) and a relatively long walk from the parking deck to the main elevators. The room was small but adequate. All in all, you might be better off to choose a hotel closer to the turnpike unless you want something in town or near the university. Plus you'll likely get a free continental breakfast and avoid the parking charge.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway and pay the difference to valet park.

Stayed here for a work meeting. The property and lobby are very pretty and checkin was seamless. It is an easy quick walk from the train station in New Brunswick was was very convenient. Ate at the hotel restaurant and it was a bit pricey but good. The room was just okay. My room overlooked the highway and the traffic noise kept me awake at night. This was the primary complaint I had staying here. There were a lot of scuffed up wooden doors, etc and the bathroom was dark and seemed dingy but the rest of the room seemed pleasant. There was a nice tv, the mattress was comfy and the desk area was large enough to be comfortable working there. The internet service was not very stable and signal dropped repeatedly making it difficult to work.

This hotel was fine. Renovated room, etc. However, I had a room overlooking the highway and even though I am from NYC, I found the traffic noise disrupted my sleep. Ask for a front side room.

I stayed at the hotel to attend a work conference. The hotel had nice facilities, was located by plenty of eating establishments and was within walking distance to the train station that went directly into NYC.

The room was okay, except for the lack of a refrigerator. The room was quiet. The bed was okay and the room had its own thermostat which is becoming one of my must haves.

The hotel staff was very helpful and polite. The hotel restaurant was good, especially the crab cake sandwich. I had room service a couple of nights and the service was prompt but it was a bit expensive.
I would have no problem returning for business again. I'm just lacking enthusiasm to reccomend it for vacation travel.

This hotel could be easily characterized as having the lobby/ballrooms/fitness areas of a W, the rooms of a Hilton (but renovated), and the bathroom of a W. Be prepared to splurge for anything other what is not included: specifically, wifi, parking, and use of the business center.

If you stay for a longer time (or talk to the maintenance personnel), you will find out that this building is from an older time that has its limitations. For example, when I checked in it was a relatively muggy 69 but was predicted to dip into the 20s at night. The HVAC system can ONLY run heat or AC at any one time, so I couldn't switch the AC on when I checked in. Luckily the windows do open (ever so slightly) and a quick shower in the wonderfully renovated bathroom got around that.

You can walk easily to the NJT station or any place of interest in downtown New Brunswick, so there is no need for a car. But if you do drive, either fork over $13 for their parking or somewhat cheaper parking garages or street parking.

The breakfast buffet is a good value; just about everything else is questionable ($3 for a Dasani that is placed in the blazing sun, its plastic bottle disintegrating in direct UV??) no fridges or microwaves in the room, and a bit of a walk to the ice machine(ice buckets are very small).

The gym and pool/jacuzzi are stupendous for a hotel, and in fact comparable if not better than the gyms at hotels that run $15/day and double as public gyms (meaning that such gyms are crammed in the morning and evening). The bed is large and extremely comfortable, so if you are staying here merely to crash that consideration probably overrides everything else. However if you are staying in your room for any length of time, keep in mind that the internet fee is $10 PER device, not per ROOM! The dearth of TV channels means that you will have to splurge on the PPV movies that the irritating remote is clearly steering you towards. In conclusion, quality of sleep and opportunities for exercise probably override every other drawback.

All in all, I think of this hotel as old-school: exceptional service, decent plant, clearly in need of the upcoming renovations.

Room Tip: Select a room AWAY from route 18

I was at this hotel 1 week for business. The room was clean and the restaurant was nice. I slept well and had no major complaints. I wish they had free internet, a room fridge, and a microwave. If they provided these items, I would have given them an excellent rating. They even charge you to use the computers in the business center.

I stay here annually for my daughter 's dance competition. There hotel has gone down hill in all fascets since 2011. The staff was not offering or willing to accept certain discounts that were available unless you complained about it. The hotel is expensive but is the quality of a red roof inn. A very disappointing visit.
