Newly renovated hotel, they just have some issues to work out
Renovated property had nice furnishings and free parking
We had issues with checking in and checking out. All were efficiently handled by staff / but should we have to deal with it?
Our first room on checking in was either not cleaned or in use- we didn’t stay to look for luggage when we opened the door and saw the bed was unmade
On check out we had an issue about the rate for Saturday night, fortunately we had our confirmation with us which stated the rates.
Great location with free Parking if you have to go to prudential center

At Newark Airport for 3 hours till they sent us to The Tryp Hotel. At first the service was horrible but then a front desk associate Taneshia stepped in and saved the day. Great Hotel and Great Food.

Quick review: The hotel is cute and clean but is not ready for a full hotel. Service was horrible and slow. The staff was uninformed and while they wanted to help, they were unable to. Location and room, once we finally got one, was great.

I was very excited to stay at this hotel. It looked cute, it was new, it was very close to the Prudential Center and was more affordable than the other area hotels.

First issue: there is no indication when you arrive where of where to park. Even a small sign telling you to park on the street while checking in or at least direct you to the correct parking lot. The parking lot itself was a mess.

Second issue: We arrived after 6 PM (to attend a P!nk concert) and had to wait almost an hour for our room to be ready. We were not alone- at one point there were at least 6 groups of people waiting.

Third issue: We get to our room, which was a family room, to find that the bunk beds had no bedding. We called down to the (already overworked/stessed) front desk to tell them we needed bedding. We left for the concert about 25 minutes later, and had heard nothing about the bedding. We returned post-concert (~4 hrs later) to find a top and fitted sheet thrown on top of the bottom bunk, with no pillows or blankets. Over the next 45 minutes, we received four blankets, another full set of sheets and two more towels. We never received our pillows.

Fourth issue: There is absolutely no information about the hotel included in the room. Most hotels have at least a brochure telling you check out time, includes where you can find the ice machine, soda/snacks and hours/menu of the on-site restaurant.

Fifth issue: I purchased a soda from the mini store and was told I had to charge it to the room (couldn't pay cash). I didn't sign anything, the young man at the front desk just wrote down my room number on a post it note. When we got the final bill, there was a $3 charge for a fiji water instead of $1.50 for a Diet Coke. We haven't gotten that fixed yet.

Sixth issue: The breakfast buffet was $16, and altho the fresh fruit looked great, I've seen more choices at a complimentary buffet at different hotel chains.

Seventh issue: Aside from the beds in the room and a very chic looking, yet uncomfortable chair, there was no additional seating in the room.

The good: the hotel is beautiful. The room was spacious and bright. The outlets had USB ports built in. The TV was nice.

Overall, I wouldn't stay there again. They seemed to be understaffed and unable to keep up with a full hotel and were not up front with the guests about what was oging on.

During my many years working in Newark, I have eaten in countless restaurants. However, I just ate at Dutch's Pub in the new Tryp Hotel. I was immediately struck by the openness created by the high ceilings. I found the decor to be both upscale and modern and loved the fact that a brick wall and white tile floor were retained from the original hotel.
From the tapas menu, I sampled sliders, scallops and skirt steak. All were very good, but the scallops were excellent. There is a "build your own salad" component to the menu, which I will try upon my return.
Service was efficient and friendly. While my gin and tonic was very good, I found the prices for the drinks to be a little too high for lunch.
The restaurant was comfortable, well run and relaxing. This dining experience is a welcome alternative to the Spanish-Portuguese restaurants which dominate the landscape. It certainly made a favorable impression on me.
I am looking forward to returning to Dutch's.
