“We just LOVE The Starlux”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2011

We LOVE the Starlux. We started staying there for "Hot Rod" weekend back in 2000" with another couple and did that for 4-5 more years. We loved staying at the Starlux and told many of our friends about it. We've also stayed other weekends and somehow always caught great weather...be it November or April. I think of it as a "lucky little getaway". We bring our bikes down with us and ride all over town. We've only ever done a long weekend but I'll tell you that's just what the doctor ordered. We love the rooms and the atmosphere but most of all we LOVE the hot tub. There's just something about being able to sit out there and relax out in the open like that. It's been quit a few years since we've been able to get back down but the weekend that we stayed just recently was a wake up call. I think we'll be taking long weekends more often because I'll be honest the weekend we just spent at the Starlux was really quite "sweet" !!

Room Tip: We loved the suites on the fourth floor on the beach end becuase they have all have balconies

Close the end of Rio Grande near the Wildwood sign lies one of the Wildwood Gems. Our last trip saw four adults in one of the Starlux's 2 bedroom suites. We found the room to be everything a traveller should expect from a first rate hotel/motel. The room itself was well maintained, very clean, and well sound proofed (stay somewhere with paper thin wall, and you learn to appriciate thick walls). The Starlux stuff were friendly, very accomodating, and had the fire going in Starlux's retro lounge.

Mornings at the Starlux started with the complimentary contienental breakfast (something rarely seen in Wilwood). Other complimentary services and ammenities include free wifi, bikes and beach chairs (more useful in season). Staying at the Starlux has you within 1000 ft of the boardwalk with the beach beyond that; the convention center and the rest of the boardwalk is just a few more blocks to the north.

Starlux puts you close to everything that Wildwood has to offer, and reminds you how wonderful it is to travel when you stay where people care about having you as a customer and truely do want to see you come back time and time again. We will be back for another round of Starlux treatment.

Our first time at the Starlux and what a delight! We had a two bedroom suite and the accomomdations couldn't have been nicer. The small kitchen with microwave, fridge and coffee maker (with dinner ware) is convenient and just right for morning tea before venturing out to tour the shore area. Complimentary wireless, continental breakfast and lounge area are added bonuses to this Wildwood gem.

I would highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Wildwood.

We planned an off-season family vacation to the Ocean this October. We stayed in the 2 bedroom Suite at the StarLux Hotel with our 6 children. The Suite was very large, and the 8 of us had plenty of room. My husband took the kids for a bike ride along the boardwalk with the free bikes which are one of the many amenities. The desk clerk made sure all 6 kids had proper fitting bike helmets, which impressed me. We had an ocean view that was beautiful, and we all watched the sun rise from the balcony. The Suite was very clean, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. It also included breakfast, which was great! The staff was very helpful and accomadating to our large family. We hope to stay at the StarLux again next year!

Came to Wildwood for a wedding at the convention center. The StarLux was really great to us. The room was nice and the service was very good. The pool and hot tub were still open because the weather was great. We were able to be in the hot tub on October 22!!!! Had a great time and would return again.

Stayed two nights in early November. Got the room for $79 a night. Booked three rooms. Traveled with husband, mother, sister, and teens. My daughter was graduating USCG bootcamp as were other guests in hotel. Did prior research for price in the Cape May vicinity. One of the very few hotels for under $100 night in the off season. Great choice. Both day and night managers VERY accomodating! We spent family time in the lounge building next to the pool. Managers lit fireplace to make room toasty. We sat in the cool retro, mod furniture and watched TV on the big flat screen. Hotel was nearly empty that allowed us to basically have the lounge room to ourselves (not that anyone came in to hang out). The shower had little water pressure. The beds were kinda hard and only full size beds. We had two full size beds in each room. They did a nice job in renovating the building (modernizing it retro style) but it still was old. Location was a few steps away from the Wildwood beach sign (and beachball sculptures) and the boardwalk. They had complimentary bicycles to use to bike around the boardwalk (if it wasn't so windy and cold, we would have indulged). Continental breakfast in lobby is good. All rooms have refrigerator and microwave. They had a computer that guests could use but it had no printer to print next day's airline boarding passes, but the night manager accomodated by printing them out in his office for me. Honestly, after driving around in historic Cape May, I wish I would have stayed there near the shops and restaurants that are open during the winter months. Hardly nothing was open for business in November in Wildwood. It was practically a ghost town. I could imagine Wildwood is flooded with an over population of tourists in the spring and summer. I always heard Jersey and PA folks talk about taking the fam to Wildwood in the summer. I imagine it would be a great place to take kids in the summer. After spending time in historic Cape May, I gather that Wildwood is the affordable place for working class families? and Cape May is more nostalgic and for those who can afford steep rates. The buildings in Wildwood are kinda dumpy and on top of eachother, but the boardwalk looks like it could be fun in the summer. I do plan on going back to the area, but to stay in an old B&B in Cape May....not to dis the Starlux Hotel. Great service and hospitable. Great Location. Old but renewed in a nice way, but I fell in love with the shopping area in old Cape May during my stay.

Room Tip: The hotel is non smoking but all rooms are accessed by an outside corridor (walk way) for all three...

In Wildwood they call it Doo Wop, out West it's Googie. The StarLux takes a modern look at mid-century design. There are tasteful retro touches throughout the property, including the two vintage Airstream trailers and classic beach house located just across the street.

I love going "down the shore" in the off season. True, many of the attractions and businesses are closed for the season, but it is a peaceful escape.

The StarLux is located very close to the boardwalk and beach, I could see both from my room's balcony. I took a spin on one of their loaner beach-cruiser bikes the entire length of the boardwalk. The pool and hot tub looked inviting, but I didn't find time to enjoy either one. The common areas were stylish, well furnished and comfortable. I especially liked the lounge with its fireplace, cozy furniture and giant windows. The kitchenette in my room was cute and well-equipped. The living room had a good-sized flat screen TV and DVD player and a second tube type TV and DVD player in the bedroom. The staff were helpful with questions about dining in town with the limited choices due to the season.

The StarLux looks back at another era with all the modern conveniences, avoiding the cookie-cutter trappings of many hotels. I really enjoyed my stay and would return in a heartbeat.
