There's something about Starlux... that draws you back...
... accommodations, staff, location and ambiance.
My wife and I really enjoy staying here, and highly recommend it, so don't let the few things we criticize change your mind, some of which is not always easily controlled.
One of the best things at the end of the day is some nice quiet time in the pool, under the stars, and the neon sign - but...
Inconsiderate parents with blaring unsupervised kids AFTER 9PM in the pool and hot tub? Kids as young as five years old, screaming, running, and dangerously diving from the hot tub into three feet of pool with parents sitting on the lounge chairs was beyond belief.
It would be ideal to keep the pool open till midnight, with a "quiet time" restriction.
The room was clean, with a few missing/broken things that I expect to see after a busy summer season. The couch material also had that end of season feel that could easily be helped with a nice washable throw.
But hey, this is a cool place. The front desk person was very nice, and gave us great tips for restaurants. The complimentary weekend breakfasts were better than most. The new mini-golf and ice cream stand is a nice addition. I could go on but I think the Starlux it is always well worth the trip. (along with stocking up on "half price" Douglas Fudge in October...There's something about Starlux... that draws you back...
