Planned to stay at the Madrid over the 4th of July weekend, however checked out early due the poor accommodations (room 102b). Was very disappointed in the entire experience. Upon opening the door, my family and I were greeted to a foul smell (of fried fish) in the room - Ed at the front desk provided a candle to try to mask the smell. As we proceeded to check out the room, it just was not at all what we would have expected for the price. The room was dated and did not look well maintained. Also, no towels are provided (read your contract) that's an additional expense (the nerve)!! We were scheduled to stay 3 nights, but knew within the first 5 minutes that this place was not for us. We stuck it out for one night (sleeping in our clothes), due to no other availability at other hotels, but then found other accommodations and couldn't get out of there fast enough. Also, the room next to us had about 12 people packed into a two bedroom.
I am not a person that every writes a review, but I felt obligated to share my experience, so other families know what they are getting into. Then to top it off, management only refunded us for one of the three nights. We were not looking to get over by any means and understand that we needed to paid for the one night that we had to stay there (due to no other places having availability), but management should have worked with us to refund the two nights as we were clearly disappointed.

Room Tip: From what we were told, these are condo units..each decorated by their owners. Get a picture of the exact room you will be getting.

First visit to Jersey Shore towns from the Catskills in NY. Loved it. Been to a few shore towns from Bar Harbor, Maine to Montauk, LI to Virginia Beach. Loved this place. Simple. No-frills. Far enough from the ruckus of the Boardwalk in Wildwood but close enough to walk.

3 blocks away there's a bike rental place I highly recommend. D R Bradleys owners are friendly and full of information. Had a great ride for a very reasonable price.
Pool is clean, grills available, Oceanview as promised. Seconds from the beach.

Overall, looking to place our reservation for next year!

Had a great time. Roomier then anticipated. Clean and comfortable. Stayed in 2 rooms(102 & 102a) with 2 kids and 3 adults. Staff very courteous, friendly and always helpful. Can't wait to book for summer of 2016.

Absolutely the best place to stay on the Wildwood Crest shore!! The view is spectacular. The rooms are beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained. The hotel itself is also kept in excellent condition with continual annual upgrades and improvements. Best of all the price is much lower that any other hotel on the beach that can accommodate 6 people and no other hotel has true Ocean Front rooms.

Room Tip: We prefer the 2nd. floor and higher. First floor has an obstructed view because of the pool.
