We love staying at the Aztec Motel. We have been staying here for 4 years and coming back again next year. Adamo and his staff are so accomodating and friendly. The rooms were clearner this year than ever. We had a young lady named Darica and she was awesome I hope she comes back again next year. Our only concern is the parking; it seem to us that guest are bringing down more than one car. We have suggested to Adamo to allocate the parking spots with the room numbers. I hope he takes this into consideration.

See you next year Adamo....

The most important things to me about hotels/motels are price, cleanliness, and location and Aztec delivered in all three areas. It really is 1 block from the beach, which is quite nice and not too crowded since its not directly on the boardwalk. The rooms were impeccably clean, including the small kicthenette area (appliances and all). The staff was friendly and even provides free coffee and cookies in the morning.
The only issues is that the pool was smaller than I imagined and a little cloudy.
I would consider staying again or at the "sister motels," Gondolier and American Safari.

OK, I'd like to start this review by stating 2 things - I'm the same person who wrote the review for the Gondolier and called it "Please don't stay here because I'm afraid it'll be booked full!" and I've been going to Wildwood with my family since I was a baby. =D

That being said, the Aztec (in the family of 3 motels - Gondolier, and the Safari, all on the same block) is great. We obviously loved the Gondolier and the Aztec was also great - mostly because of the owners. They truly care about your stay and the free coffee/tea and cookies in the morning is such a nice, personable touch - and the cookies are amazing! =D Aside from the owners, the location is unbeatable - one block from the ocean and two from the boardwalk. Also, as others have mentioned, it's incredibly clean - there's absolutely no smell in the room other than "freshness."

We had the "Honeymoon Suite" and I'll comment about that, as I read an earlier review of the room and someone totally ripped it apart. It's small, but that's to be expected - and frankly, it was a nice size room. But the shape of the room is weird - almost pear shaped instead of rectangle shaped. That itself is fine, but they overcrowded the room with furniture. For example, by removing the loveseat from the entryway, the room would look a thousand times better - and really, the loveseat isn't needed. Also, by swapping out the tall clothes drawer for one that you can hang clothes in as well, you can get rid of the randomly placed hanging clothes rack that's in the middle of the room.
- pros: comes with a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, king size bed, cabinets stocked with plates and utensils and the window in the shower was nice - I doubt the other rooms have windows that open and the fresh air was great at night!
- cons: weird ceiling with exposed concrete blocks with 1/4 inch spaces between them; kinda creepy to think what could be lurking in those spaces. The ceiling should definitely be covered somehow with sheetrock or something. Also, there was a random light in the middle of the ceiling that was not completely connected and didn't even work. These two things can be fixed but the last 'con' I'll mention was a big complaint of the other reviewer - the large window. There IS a table outside the room but it doesn't "belong" to this room. Anyone can use it as it's a regular table and not the little ones assigned to each room (well, every room EXCEPT this one.) We had to keep our blinds shut 24/7 because people were always sitting at that table (2 inches from our window). It was awkward and ruined the beautiful ocean view we had. I think just by moving the table a few feet away and putting a little white table and chairs for that room, it would emilinate this problem.

Obviously, the pros of this place far exceed any cons (as the cons are minimal and only were mentioned because they can be fixed so easily) and we HIGHLY recommend any of the 3 motels in this family.

Last comment. :) The first night our refrigerator's ice maker was making noise (like pebbles in a bowl being swirled around - try sleeping with that!) and when we spoke to management the next day he was extremely kind and apologetic about it (obviously it wasn't his fault but he clearly felt bad). When we got back from the beach 3 hours later there was a brand new refrigerator in the room!!! Amazing! We were blown away with how quickly they solved this issue! Again, the management is amazing and so kind - what a wonderful family and they (along with their pristine rooms and location) will keep us returning for years!!!

This motel looked on the outside like many others. Stayed 3 nights. Obviously, July is hi season and this room goes for $85/night during off season and we paid $169 which is a bit steep for the type of motel (which explains the 3 stars for "value"). However, knowing that this is the going rate during hi season, the room was small but extremely clean (and I am fussy). Had everything you need (we had a microwave, small fridge, two burners) a king bed + double. Had forgotten our hairdryer and upon request we were promptly lent one for our stay. After taking a shower, the drain didn't seem to be working right and when we left for supper advised the owner and when we came back from supper, the drain had been fixed. Nice owner with good tips on where to eat and what to see. Kept our key when we headed out to the beach so we wouldn't have to bother with it. One block from the beach - just a nice stroll. Had never been in Wildwood area, very retro lots of art deco everywhere. If you are paranoid about security, you might find the doors/locks a little flimsy but we never worry about things like that and nothing untoward has ever happened to us.

For the first time in 20 years, We walked into a Wildwood Hotel that was not only clean, and fresh, but well run, and managed. The Pipitone Family has done a magnificent job. The maintenance staff was on duty all day, and night. The housekeeping staff was honest, and talented. The rooms were fully equipped with utensils that were not only new, but clean. The pool was spotless, and the owner, Adamo Pipitone was there everyday to handle all inquiries, and requests. I could go on. This hotel made our stay enjoyable, and worry free. Great for families or friends. Relaxed, and comfortable. Thank you to Adamo, and his staff. See you soon.

My family and I have spent a week each summer at the Aztec Motel in Wildwood Crest for 9 out of the past 10 years. We have always enjoyed staying there due to the helpfulness of the owners and staff, as well as the location near the beach and the boardwalk. Last summer we had a mix-up with our bank and the owners went out of their way to work with us on this issue. They were patient with us and helped us get the problem resolved so we could enjoy the rest of our vacation without worrying.
