Bloomestate is set in seriously impressive, beautifully landscaped grounds with an entrance off Swellendam's main street. Reception is in the main house where breakfast is also served. Across the lawn, past an Anthony Gormley-like sculpture, there's a building with a high design lounge and bar area with seats and tables outside, and then two further blocks near to the swimming pool, one with three luxury garden rooms and the other with four rooms. All are the same apart from different colour themes. Our green, 'spring' room suited us well colour-wise; red and orange might be a bit too bright to wake up to. The slightly clinical bathroom is spacious with a good walk-in shower and decent sized bath. Plenty of soaps and lotions are provided and these are also on sale in 'Rain' next door.

A flat-screen TV with built-in DVD player plus an iPod dock are provided and there's a library of DVDs. Free WiFi is available throughout. The rooms have a pair of Barcelona chairs and an Eileen Gray side table. Air-con works well and the king size bed was very comfortable.

Plenty of sun loungers are provided around a decent sized pool. There are also another couple of lounges on a decking area overlooking a picturesque lily pond. Behind our block there's a citrus grove which guests are welcome to wander around.

Breakfast is served by the owners, Carla and Maarten. This includes freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee or tea, a cooked breakfast and an extensive array of fruit salad, cereals, yogurts, cheeses, smoked fish and meats, cakes and breads.

A 'must do' in Swellendam is a visit to the Drostdy museum which recreates the community of the 18th century centred around a court house in an impressive and moving way. Near to the museum, there's a good restaurant called Sabine's which is in a Drostdy house transported to Swellendam from elsewhere. Nearby, Oppi Stoep is a good restaurant serving light lunches with more than a hint of pinkness. Adjacent to Bloomestate there's Woodpecker Pizza Deli which serves good ultra thin-crust pizzas.

Room Tip: All rooms are essentially the same, but those furthest away in each block are more private.

We have stayed in a few different places around Swellendam over the years, but this is by far our favourite. The owners are extremely welcoming. They have the balance between comfort/elegance just right.
The rooms are wonderfully spacious and have everything you might possibly need. There are lovely areas where you can just go and chill out, listen to music, lots of books to read etc. The jacuzzi is set in a nice quiet part of the garden with full privacy.
Breakfast is stunning, beautifully presented and tastes just as good.

Bloomestate really does feel like a home away from home. We will certainly go straight back there next time we are in the area. Thanks a lot for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are very similar, just different colours from what I could tell.

Very stylish rooms and garden. Lots of choice for breakfast over good time. Extremely helpful hosts, even driving you to dinner although all restaurants are within walking distance. Large gardens with lake and citrus groves mean lots of interesting birds abound. We found pool cool in mid December. Very bouncy bed in Autumn (room name). If you've got a restless partner you might want to ask for twins. Also take earplugs if a light sleeper as there is road noise. The massages are excellent. Very relaxing place to stay and we would be happy to return. Two nights was not enough and there is lots to do in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms nearest pool will not get as much road noise.

We spent two days at Bloomestate in January 2012. This is THE place to stay if you like a very well and thorough designed estate, very relaxed with Carla and Marteen taking care of you. If we come back, it's definitely at the Bloomestate! Thanks for everything.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

The location as well as the accomodation(s) are superb. The design is modern and at the same time warm, the hosts very welcoming. Breakfast was refined and consisted out of many different options (plates were even decorated with flowers :)) We had a great stay here!

A place to be!!
Bloomestate rocks.... a modern living and overflowed with originality.
All the seven rooms are inspired by season and elements with beautiful colors. Each room has a delicious big bed and a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath, all the necessities are in place like internetconnection and DVD and a much appreciated I-pod dock.
In the beautiful garden with saltwater swimming pool and yacuzzi you can relax, sitting near the pond and enjoying the many birds and flowers, or reading a book in the lounge with a drink from the honestybar............
As wunderfull as the place, are Carla and Maarten.
Their attention and unbelievable service helps you to plan the day...........or not.
The amazing breakfast is delicious and served with the same originality.
From now on there is one Bloomestate ambassador more!
