Good place for street foods

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 27, 2018via mobile
For business trip to Korat, gateway city to northeastern Thailand, Raya Grand is one good choice. The hotel is about 15 minutes drive from Korat, on the direction to Bangkok. Waiting walking distance from the he hotel, there are many street-food restaurants on both sides of the road offering variety of choices. Besides popular traditional Northeastern food, there are almost all alternative, including Korean, Chinese, tradition Thai and Western dishes. However there is no Seven-Eleven or other convenient store near the hotel . VIP Room on the seventh floor has one big bedroom and living room with small pantry. There are 2 big screen televisions, one for bedroom and one for living room. Bathroom is big and has two choices, rain shower and big bathtub for two. Breakfasts is simple with limited choices. WiFi is available in rooms and lobby Area, although it is not as fast as it is supposed to be. There are parking area both indoor and outdoor for your choices.

It is a nice hotel for one stay which I did. Busier Location, room was big and clean with all the necessities including the wi-fi for a convenient stay. Choice of food at the restaurant is very limited but the restaurant was very busy it is opened the locals too. It is a budget hotel so do not expect much.

Hotel price is acceptable with Breakfast. Room is big and clean. Parking is enough.
Location is good. It is nearby the big Safe-one Market. Beside Hotel is food street and easy for shopping for famous food of Korat for souvenir.

As promised by my friends, a 'temple town'.
And Raya Grand is right opposite the very celebrated Mahamaham tank.
Comfortable, well-appointed and clean rooms and efficient service.
The hotel has a restau with a vegetarian and local fare - very adequate indeed.
AirCon and ceiling fans fare creditably against the hot day.
Pillows thicker than I like, bed/mattress quite adequate.
Will be happy to come back and stay again.

This is a bigger hotel than I thought.
Staff ok.
Room is quite new, clean, Hot Shower & everything working.

Only complaints would be the people who come for a function & take all the car parks. Plus the function room was a floor below ours & with the Thai speaker volume we could feel the floor shake & our ears throbbing.

Thankfully our 6-month old slept through it all.

We complained a few times, but they did nothing, but typical of anywhere here. Then after the music stopped you could hear them setting to the room in the very early hours of the morning for a wedding.

Breakfast, don't bother would be nice if it was hot but cold egg & boiled rice is not my thing. Lucky Toast toast was hot.

Room service food is ok & worth trying

Wi-Fi is good.

On checkout staff were very quiet & quick getting us out of there, maybe they are not used to people complaining about the noise.

Would not stay here again

There is something charismatic about visiting a new unexplored town or city and checking into the Grand as you know it's going to be a sanctuary when it all goes wrong. Luckily it didn't all go wrong but the Grand really wasn't ... Sad really because I'm sure there was a day when it was but that must have been some time ago as it is definitely showing its cracks now.
For example the bathroom toilet, and bath have been grouted so many times it looks dirty and almost unsafe. Things like this are an easy fix so they just need to do it properly.
That said . This is an perfectly ordinary and acceptable place to stay the night. The bed was comfortable. The almost industrial AC was a little loud but very effective. Breakfast in the slightly knackered restaurant was fairly decent and the coffee good
Free wifi was good too.
They make mention of the free music in the restaurant every night. We passed by it as quickly as our perhaps overly sensitive ear drums would allow. Maybe if you are of Asian persuasion you might enjoy it but strangling cats sounded more enticing
Huge car park which was almost full when we arrived due to a party but they found us a space. Plenty of nice eateries on the street outside too
All in all this is perfectly fine especially for the price. I just wouldn't want to spend a holiday here.
