“Worth a visit but eat at street food place rather than a restaurant”

Phu Quoc Night Merket
Attraction details
Reviewed April 4, 2018 via mobile

We visited the market on 2 nights of our trip to Phu Quoc. First evening we ate at a restaurant in the market but it was chaotic and not a great experience. The second night we went right to the far end of the market and had a much better meal of various streetfood dishes cooked to order. All delicious, cheaper than a restaurant and more fun to sit and watch the action of the market.

Going anywhere in South East Asia and not going to the night market is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower! You know what I mean. That being said during our stay in PQ we hopped on a cab from our resort and explored the night market a couple of times. Is it the best? No, but considering there is not much to do in the island this was a good spot to stroll before, for or after dinner. It’s pretty much a typical night market where you can buy souvenirs (i warn you it’s not that exciting), eat great seafood, rolled ice cream and see entertainment. We went there a couple of times. We really enjoyed the seafood and the local specialties. There are a few seafood restaurants and snacks stalls, where the food was great. Some nights were busier thank others, yet the last time we went was after dinner for ice-cream and it was after 9pm, there was not many people and action. Go early and enjoy the food.

We came here for one night with the hotel bus of the JW Marriott PQC, which takes 20-30 minutes.
The drop you around 18:30 and you are picked up at 21:00.
First we thought this is quite short, but at the end it was well enough.
We just stopped at a restaurant and had a really nice dinner.
We have had 4 beers and food well enough for two (rice paper-pizza, vietnames hotdog etc.) for 230K Dong, which is ~9€ only.
Food was nice and we could even find some postcards.

Nothing special except stalls selling the same stuff.

Wouldn't go out of your way to see this, there's a lot of tat, fish and seafood in small tanks - I suppose it is one of those places you have to go to say you have seen it
