Our stay started off less than favorable: somehow, they had lost our reservation for three nights. Terrie called around and found us a room at a discounted price for the first night, and then put us up for the next two nights at a reasonable rate. I was in room number 5. It is upstairs, very large and well appointed, with two queen beds. The free breakfast was simple but adequate for our needs. A very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I traveled the 12 hours to take advantage of the snow for a weekend. Greeted by Teri who checked us in for a great rate. The room was excellent in size, cleanliness and amenities. The hosts Teri and Kip are very friendly and will do anything to make your stay better. We will be going back next year for a snow trip again. Loved it

My daughter and I stayed here for a fishing weekend. Beds were good, nice breakfast room. Super-nice people. There's a fun saloon/restaurant down the road. We missed our flight and came a day later and they were totally accommodating.

October 18, 2016 - I had made reservations directly over the phone with Terrie a few months ago and she checked us into our room out back of the office and breakfast room. We were able to park right outside our door. You know, we stay mostly in chain hotels where we have developed some level of confidence. This was the first non-chain hotel/motel we have stayed in for years. And, what a pleasant surprise; absolutely delightful. Terrie and her husband are gracious hosts and during this time of year, they have several Elk hunters.

Upon opening the door to our room, we were greeted with two queen beds, a small digital TV mounted on the wall, a small refrigerator under the night stand between the two beds, a small desk with drawers, and a clean bathroom. To get to the bathroom, one had to go up a couple of steps so you had to remember to step up during the middle of the night. The sink was outside the toilet and shower area, which we like. In addition to the shower area having a light and fan, it also had a separate heat fan, and that made the shower more enjoyable. The towels were good but I would recommend that Terrie consider purchasing some new wash clothes for the face and body; ours were very small, flimsy, and seemed old or very inexpensive.

Not far from our room, was the breakfast room. You have to go outside to get to it but that was not a problem. Unlike most hotels/motels, the breakfast room is open 24 hours. If you wanted a light snake, you could go to the breakfast room and heat up some Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuits or get some coffee, juice, cereal, candy, etc. That was a great benefit.

No pool, no fitness center but plenty of good hospitality. There is no telephone in the room but there is an electric clock that you can set for a wake up call.

The motel is just a mile from the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and there are several restaurants nearby.

When you decide to go on the historic Cumbres and Toiltec Scenic Railroad, you have to stay at Cumbres Suites; you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: No suggestion.

Great place to stay! Very relaxing. Terri and Kip are great very helpful. Rooms upstairs are each unique, very clean. They feel like home. Lovely view from patio, it's a great place to sit out and read. In the summer they feed the hummingbirds and it's fun to watch them.
