Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 20 October 2017

We recently spent three amazing days at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero. By my estimate, we saw nearly half of all the elephants in all of Africa! The guides/staff were all very professional and demonstrated exceptional hospitality. Our room was clean and very nicely appointed. Meals were quite good. The highlight, however, were the sunset cruises on the river!

We so enjoyed our three day luxurious stay at Chobe Chilwero. Some people were in groups, but since it was just the two of us, we had our own private guide, Neco. He was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job on our Safari drives and boat Safaris. It is a beautiful park and the Chobe River keeps the wildlife sightings diverse. On the drives we saw a leopard and lions but especially loved the the water wildlife and so much opportunity to observe elephants. There was also great bird viewing.

The meals and drinks were fabulous-loved the three course lunches and dinners with great presentations and choices. The baked goods and desserts are to die for. Our accommodations were so restful with privacy for the outdoor shower, expansive windows with river views, sitting area, stocked bar, and a large bathroom which included a tub and indoor shower. Housekeeping came three times a day while we did activities and had dinner. There were plenty of attentive, friendly staff. One night native dancers came to provide amazing dancing. We were very happy with all aspects of our stay.

I recently stayed at the Sanctuary Chilwero in Botswanna and had an amazing time there. The service is beyond reproach, staff are all friendly and accommodating. Three course meals with variety in menu and location. The room we had was huge with the feel of a unit. All inclusive mini bar and laundry service. The bathroom is as big as the bedroom and small sitting lounge area. Outside shower and hammock. Inside a free standing bath with separate shower, vanity area and toilet. All windows open to the environment. Tea and coffee making with a huge variety of teas. Towels everywhere! The grounds have native animals of the safer kind to get up close to. The pool is fabulous and the spa is decadent and has a large variety of treatment and treatment rooms. We had two treatments in 2days...fabulous! Transfers to and from the resort are on time and in clean reliable and modern vehicles. These are used for game drives and are really comfortable. Drivers are very knowledgeable. Our deliver Cevin was amazing. Cruises in Chobe NP gave us truly amazing photos of elephants at sunset along with hippo and crocodile. Sipping out gin and tonic as we sailed along was so relaxing. The amount of elephants in the NP is awesome. So close and so magnificent. Lions, kudu, zebra, elusive leopard, impala. You will not be disappointed. Do yourself a favour and make the effort to include this resort which is not far from Livingstone, in your African adventure. You won't regret a minute of it.

Room Tip: Any room, they are all the same. 15 only.

Beautifully located above the Chobe River where we experienced all the available big five and more. Delightful sunset cruises, great rooms, impeccable service and a very knowledgeable guide. It is the diversity of Sanctuary's lodges and camps in Botswana which makes this place so special.

Have visited several times and are always welcomed back. Spectacular animal viewing from the river. This is the spot to "recover" if coming from a primitive camp elsewhere. Cute gift shop and fine dining.

Staff are really welcoming and friendly, the philanthropy project is a big WOW, however you have to ask about it. I spent my time with two other couples from the UK, We can all agree that the service is top notch, and the staff are a delight. The only criticism is the lack of attention to the surroundings and finer details.

Room Tip: All seem the same.
