My wife and I went to The Chateau By the Lake in Bolton Landing, NY, this evening. It was spectacular. The restaurant is taking advantage of the tent and outdoor seating. The ambiance on the edge of Lake George is stunning. The musician (live) was perfect for the setting, and was totally on point.
The place is upper end spendy, but one of those places where you don't mind the expense, or at least you get what you pay for.
Our dinner consisted of:
Cocktails: I had a "cedar smoked" old fashioned, she had a "blood orange martini." They were both wonderful.
Wine: a nice Cabernet from Argentina, reasonably priced at around 50. (They had wine up to 750)
Lollipop lamb chops for an appetizer. A perfect spice palette, and so good, I embarrassed myself with the bones. We also had the calamari. Also bomb.
Dinner was the bone in filet mignon, for me. She had the surf and turf. Mine was perfectly cooked. The bone in filet is hard to find, and incredibly flavorful. She had surf and turf. A filet mignon & a Maine Lobster tail. Just lovely.
The food was off the charts, the atmosphere was spectacular. It was one of the two or three most romantic evenings of my life. You won't regret this place. It is my current mission in life to return.More
