First time ever at this restaurant. We wanted to go to sagamore but they were closed due to Covid. They directed us to Chateau on the Lake. The owner Buddy was so nice to us. We had an amazing waitress....Leanne!!! This was her second time waitressing....what a pro!!!! We felt welcomed and the food is great!!!! You may want to catch them on the food network Highly recommend!!!

We stayed here two nights. The Chateau has 3 rooms; 2 with lake view, one without. What really makes this place special is the amazing view. Our room (with a lake view view) was also peaceful and quiet. Main issue was that heat didn't work. Owner did come (it was 11pm) and tried to fix it but couldn't. He brought a portable heater (kind of noisy). I can't blame him for the problem I guess - He was responsive and did try to fix it - but first night was not 100% good because of it. The room was spacious, high ceiling. Cleanliness was ok - lots of dust under the bed and some cobwebs.

The property has only 3 rooms, so maybe no one cleans it during the week. The restaurant in the property (Manhattan prices) does have amazing food. We roasted Marshmallows in the private years at night.

So over a very nice experience, I would go again - but only for a room with a view; that's what makes this place special

We celebrated our Anniversary at this restaurant while staying in Lake George. The ambience was beautiful and the food was amazing. I had the bronzino and my husband had the steak. The food was superb and we both cleaned our plates. We will absolutely be back again and Fred, our server, was amazing.

My husband and I stayed here three nights while attending a wedding nearby. We had the room without a lake view, which was still far from cheap. The location is lovely--right on the lake--and very convenient to the main street of Bolton Landing, but also peaceful and quiet.

When we arrived at about 6:30 p.m., someone in the restaurant let us know that the key was in the door and that Buddy, who was off-site, had texted us that information. (We hadn't received the text because we had entered our landline when making the reservation, not realizing that we might be contacted by text.) Buddy's phone number was posted in the hallway, but we never saw or contacted him--perhaps we should have, although it's hard to think how he might have resolved the problems we encountered when he was not there.

The room was spacious, with a high ceiling and a fireplace--probably very nice on a chilly evening--and two upholstered armchairs and ottomans as well as a comfortable bed. The air conditioner worked well, keeping the room cool on an extremely hot weekend. The bathroom was nicely appointed, with a large shower--but the shower leaked terribly, and we were not provided with a bathmat until we asked for one the next day, when someone stopped by to ask if we needed anything. There was an ironing board, but it was just bare metal without a cover--we needed to iron clothes for wedding events, and when we asked the person who stopped by about an ironing board cover, we were told that there wasn't one, so we had to improvise with a towel and pillowcase.

The main problem, though, was that the room was filthy. Not just a little dirty--there were dust bunnies at least an inch thick covering the floor under the bed, and anything that touched the wooden floor was instantly covered in dust and hair. The rug was disgusting, and the shelf holding the coffee maker and such was in desperate need of cleaning. (The bathroom was clean, though.) When we left, and a staff member asked how our stay had been, we did point out the cleanliness problem--she came up to take a look, and was quite apologetic; she also said that a new vacuum cleaner had just been purchased. She, like everyone we spoke to there, was very nice. But the issues described above really detracted from our enjoyment of our stay. (Let me add that we are far from fanatical about cleanliness--in fact, we have a pretty high tolerance in that area--but this was really unacceptable.)

The problems we experienced may have been unusual and/or temporary, and they could certainly be remedied--the place has many wonderful aspects, and would be a great place to stay if those issues were resolved.

If you want to make a special memory, you have to stay at the Chateau on the Lake in Lake George, NY. From the owners, Buddy and Jen, to the lovely bartenders Paige and Caroline, our waitress, Liana, even the busboys, groundskeepers, everyone greets you with a smile, all are so down to earth and helpful which is is a testament to the owners and the type of place they want their guests to experience. While we were there, they were being filmed for a reality show to be seen on the Food Network soon so stay tuned. Buddy made us feel at home from the reservation till we left. He being a Yankee’s fan and we Sox fans made for lots of fun, particularly when the Sox swept the Yankees “big time” while we were there! Buddy just has the nicest personality. They all could not do enough for us to make you feel so special. We did not have a reservation on one of the boat tours, and boom(!) Buddy arranged a tour on a local boat texted me to confirm while we were out and about the Town, imagine?! Who does that today? The food is honestly heavenly and not to be missed. Enjoy the restaurant and the special cocktails at the Bar even if don’t stay. You will be missing out if you don’t. We met a lovely family on the boat tour and told them of the Chateau and our dining experience and they came for dinner and were so happy to see them. They were all in awe of the experience, and Elizabeth told me they were coming back to stay also. They love it! There is nothing like the personal touch of not only the innkeepers and their staff, but the appointments in the room all fabulous and attributable to Jen the owner! The huge shower in the bath, lovely robes, the most comfortable bed, with great pillows, the fireplace, sitting chairs, coffee station, etc. just awesome! Plus, we had our own huge deck with four rocking chairs, table and side bar overlooking the yard filled with special touches, Adirondack chairs scattered about with fire pits for chatting with guests while sipping your cocktail. Thanks to you all for making such a memorable, fun stay for Jim and I. We look forward to returning for Fall foliage. Oh, and can’t wait to make my new favorite cocktail, Froze Rose!
