Very relaxing place to stay with a nice view of the lake and close proximity to the town beach. Good restaurants within close driving proximity. The owners were very nice people. Horseback riding was close by.

My husband and I come to Conway's a few times every year throughout the summer and fall. The owners, Bob and Erica, are very accommodating and helpful! The location is on the end of Loon Lake, with a small beach and boat launch within walking distance. We bring our kayaks and enjoy the lake for fishing and taking in the scenery. The property also offers a small dock for fishing or boating, adirondack chairs for sitting and enjoying the lakefront view, and a large lawn for the kids to play on. The rooms have two double beds and a small fridge. While not updated, we feel like we step back into time when we're there. We use the motel as our home base through the day while enjoying the Adirondacks, whether we're hiking, kayaking, fishing, or eating. There are two restaurants nearby that we frequent for dinner, OP Fredericks and The Place. In the nearby town of Chestertown we like to go to The Deer Crossing for breakfast and love going to the Crossroads where you can find everything from fishing lures to hiking shoes to deli sandwiches. We put on a lot of miles visiting the quaint town of North Creek, going to Minerva Lake with the family, and finding new lakes, ponds, or streams to explore. We've stayed in other motels in the area, but keep coming back to Conway's!

this property was very clean and modest. It hasn't been updated recently, but all units face the lake and has little decks that are nice. There were no hair dryers, so I thought I was totally roughing it :) The cafe was not open but there was coffee available in the office in the orning.

Room tip: all rooms seemed to be equal.

The first thing that greeted us when we arrived was a FOR SALE sign below the large entry sign. (see picture)

First the good features
our room was very large - probably over 300 sq ft (not the 2000 sq ft in booking.com that is surely a typo)

The long porch area is divided into rooms areas by slats. For our first three nights no one else was using their porch so we had a nice quiet view of the lake. Each room porch area had 2 chairs and a table and each table had an ashtray on it. Indeed all rooms are non smoking but no mention is made of this loophole.

On our final night we had smokers on the porches on both sides of us and of course it was like people smoking in the room. We had to close the windows and turn on the AC. Later we were able to reopen them when the people left the porch. Then the same group of men who had been smoking and talking loudly on the porch were smoking cigars. Needless to say we again closed up.

The rooms are well furnished with great surface space for spreading out. Ours and I think the others had a table with 2 cushioned chairs and there were 2 other wooden chairs in the room. There were also 2 chairs on the porch and 2 in front wherre the cars are parked. There were also 3 drawers in the TV stand and a hanging rack with 10 hangers.

We were glad to have the small refrigerator also.

Because of the layout the room never got the very hot direct sun.

unfortunately these pluses did not make up for the MANY disappointments we had.

Much was not as advertized. We thought because booking.com showed no availability for most days , that this was a popular place where people returned year after year.

It is no longer open year round. The senior couple who own and care for it go to Fl for the winter, closing ti in Oct. They told us they are ready to retire.

I would say not only the motel but the town is in decline. Aside form hiking and possibly renting a boat at the Loon Lake Marina (not found on TA)

The lovely large lawn shown in the pictures is visited most days by a large flock of Canadian geese who leave their large deposits all over. You have to watch your step when even just walking down to the dock.

The owner told us he checks the rooms most days to be sure there is not crumbs to attract mice. When we returned form dinner our first night he was coming out of our room. It was also not possible to lock our room from the inside as the chain was broken off. (see picture)

All the plugs in the rooms are 2 prong so carry a converter with you - something we always do.

WE asked about the advertized free use of row boats. Only one is useable. They told us they had child life vests though vest are required apparently. See the pictures of the waterfront. There is a nice bench to sit but the "private beach" is a real stretch. There is perhaps a 5' stretch of cleared dirt. Sign says 'Swim only in designated areas, but there are no designated or marked areas.

The motel is DIRECTLY on the highway and VERY noisy log trucks and heavy load truck are a constant even in the night.

The Internet router is in the office on the highway end, next to room 1. We were in room 5 and if lucky we had access for a few minutes several times a day. They told us we could move a chair up near the office for better reception. I did that once. I had brought some work to do and was unable to do it.

The public beach up the road has a limit of 85 people and is very crowded on weekends. There is a lifeguard there.

So our final afternoon there we had people on the porches on both sides of us who were smoking and the smoke came heavily into our room. We closed up and put on the AC though it was a beautiful afternoon and would have been nice to be on the porch.

The could be a very nice overnight for a couple knowing what to expect. I wish we had. See pictures for more info.

I would not say this is family friendly because of the state of the lawn with the geese.

Clean and cozy, the owners are wonderful people who made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The room was equipped with toiletries and everything needed to stay content. Plus, the balcony and Lake view was a great bonus! Would definitely come again!
