So glad you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best wishes, Teach
The room was nice but the lighting inadequate and the were no drawers for clothing. The bathroom was tiny and did not have any space for toiletries. We had a view of the sound, which was lovely, but for over $500/night with taxes and resort fee, I would think twice about returning
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm glad you enjoyed the general decor of the room and the lovely waterfront view. I appreciate your observations about the functionality of the storage in the room, and am pleased to share that we have several projects in the works to address this. It is true that harvest and wedding season weekends in the fall are higher priced than other times of year due to high demand. We do hope you will stay with us again soon. When planning your next stay on the North Fork, please visit the Offers page on our website for our current promotions and specials. Best wishes, Teach
Stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite. The pros: beautiful and spacious room with expansive sound view, nice Malin & Goetz toiletries, convenient location. Great service from Lindsey who did it all - took care of us in the piano bar, breakfast, dinner at Halyard, and checked us out at the front desk. Cons: Service in general seemed off the long weekend we stayed there.... we were given an events calendar when we checked in on a Friday. After looking it over, we were interested in a tour of 8 Hands Farm which was noted at available from Fri - Sun with “prior notice”. When we asked the front desk on Saturday if we could book a tour for Sunday, we were informed with a shrug that they required 48 hrs. notice. That was disappointing and wished they would have informed us of that when we checked in. We were also interested in an evening of s’mores on the beach. We were back from our day’s outing by the appointed hour but couldn’t find anything going on at the beach. We check at the front desk, and she directed us to an area on the beach near the pool, but when we went down there, all we found was a deserted beach! Also, our room was never serviced during our entire stay. One evening the housekeeping service stopped in to see if we required fresh towels or anything else, the next evening when we returned home for the day, there was a note on the bed that only the towels were replaced and that was the only housekeeping service due to a death in the Sound View family. We were given a 10% discount on one night’s stay as a result.
I think it’s a small, close knit staff and finally understood why the service might have been off all weekend. I would still recommend to give it a shot and stay if you’re planning a vacation out in the North Fork because it truly is a beautiful place. And I will definitely be back to visit the area, but next time I’ll plan to stay in the town of Greenport instead.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I, too, am disappointed that we did not meet your expectations. And, I appreciate your kind understanding of the service note we left for you on Sunday. It is true that there was a miscommunication about the beach fire starting time on Saturday, and apologize for any inconvenience. I will also follow up with the team to ensure that more complete information concerning the activities with our local partners is available at check-in. I sincerely hope you will consider staying with us when you return to the area, and would like to assist you personally with your travel arrangements. Please feel free to contact me directly at the hotel. Best wishes, Teach
We stayed two nights while visiting friends on Long Island at their recommendation. The room was nice but we had fruit flies both days that we were there which the hotel said they’d had problems with in several rooms. We told housekeeping about it after the first night but they were still there when we came back to the room. When we told management about it the second night they made a note of it and the GM apologized and gave us a credit for our stay. For the price I think there could have been a little more substantial continental breakfast and a microwave in the room would have been nice. Very comfortable bed, nice bath linens and view of the Sound; however, their is a main heavily traveled highway outside the room.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I'm so glad you enjoyed so many of the choices we made in renovating our rooms! We've had many compliments about the comfort of the beds & the bath linens. I am truly sorry that the unusual incidence of fruit flies disturbed your stay, and appreciate you bringing it to our attention so that we could address the disturbance with you in the moment. While fruit flies do make an appearance in Long Island wine country during harvest season, it is unusual for them to enter a room they way they did during your stay. Our complimentary continental breakfast includes house made granola, cereal, a variety of croissants & muffins, bread, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, milk, orange juice, La Colombe coffee, and a variety of spreads including butter, jam, and Nutella. We do not currently have plans to add microwaves to the rooms, as our room decor features many natural materials which can easily absorb cooking smells. We do provide microwaves upon special request by a guest. We have a single lane county road next to the property which is well traveled (especially on fall weekends). We hope you will visit us again - and suggest trying one of our Studio or Junior Suites which are less affected by ambient road noise. In addition, for guests who are sensitive to the road noise, we offer complimentary sleep kits which include ear plugs. I sincerely hope you will return to the North Fork again soon, and look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes, Teach
Newly remodeled restaurant is lovely as are the sound views from LI over to CT. Unfortunately, the prices were jacked up significantly during summer. Hoping fall will bring more reasonable prices! Especially enjoy the fresh seafood (stuffed sole).
Thank you for the compliments about the quality of your meal. I will be sure to share your feedback about pricing with our chef, which is always welcome. We pride ourselves on having incorporated many fresh, local ingredients in our dishes this season, which may be why you experienced a difference in our pricing. If you would like to be informed about our special events and promotions, please sign up for our email list at our website.
Very nice room except room needs a few things, mainly a comfortable chair to sit on and a dresser for your clothes. I don't know how a family would made due. Restaurant food was good. Continental breakfast was good. Clean. I would go back.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm happy to hear you would return and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. To help Trip Advisor readers select the best suited room for themselves, I'm pleased to describe the storage in our different room categories: Our Studio and Junior Suites feature full closets, while our Deluxe Rooms feature both a storage shelf and a unique modern piece which includes a drawer and a hanging rack. We also feature hooks for guests who wish to hang additional items. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us. Best Wishes, Teach
